I'm not predicting greatness for Nuss. Not sure what his future holds.
But I'd say this- he does have tools, and some of the things people bash him about aren't relevant.
People talk about him not running... QBs in the NFL get old, and lose mobility. If that's a primary feature of your game, you lose it in about a decade. Cam Newton was done by then. If you're a pocket guy first, in a decade you're coming into your peak- still have the arm, and now you know the game at a high level.
As for the comments about him lacking between the ears... we don't know. Was an awful system he was in. We do know his dad was a respected QB coach who's now an NFL OC, and seems to be doing ok developing Shough. I'd say that gives Nuss an edge in learning principles and fundamentals of the position.
QB in the NFL, you want a system that can move the ball and score points, and ideally keep your QB from getting beat up so he can last there awhile.

He’ll be a good back up, and if the starter gets hurt he’ll get some starts.
Chase Daniel’s was in the league for 14 years and got 5 starts.

What qualities besides a good arm does he possess that would make him a damn good nfl QB?
I listened to the Scouts yesterday, after the Senior Bowl practices. They were highly complimentary of Nuss' knowledge of the play calling as well awareness of each situation. Such as, the clock was running down and Nuss was hurrying the team to the Line so he could spike the ball to kill the clock.
I suppose you are too young to remember Terry Bradshaws intro to the NFL. He had a strong arm but no quality receivers in which to one to throw the ball.
Then the Steelers drafted Lynn Swann, John Stallworth and a great TE.
"Bradshaw admitted that he was not an accurate passer, but he had a generational receiving core that made him look amazing."

Dude's a passing QB, and the intent is to stand in there and deliver a pass. That's what you're looking for, if you bring him in.
NFL is about longevity at QB, if you really want to build around him. Good passing QBs cycle through 2-3 crops of good RBs and WRs. You don't want the QB taking off and getting hit, because that can shorten his career, and can put his arse on IR in a season.
Mobile QBs are great in college, but you're getting a guy in his late teens/early 20s (more resilient at that age), and he's only playing a couple years for you.

I did read it. None of that is irrelevant.
He’s a 6’1” 202 pocket passer that likes to run backward. Not sure what I’m missing.

Nah. Plays scared. He would get sacked five times a game in the NFL.

I really like Nuss, but he better fix his footwork/mechanics, especially when under pressure, or that ain't happening.

The NFL scouts are looking at Nussmeier, so somebody thinks he has potential. That seems to upset some folks here, for some reason.
Seems like one of the complaints during the season (and last year) was that he doesn't take off like Jayden Daniels did. Daniels could get a 15 yd gain a lot of times with his legs, something Nuss never did.
My point on that, it's not relevant to an NFL team that doesn't want their QB running and taking hits. They want him standing in the pocket, delivering passes to WRs, and if need be, throwing the ball away. An incompletion and loss of down is nothing compared to losing the starter to IR, not if you want your QB for a decade to build around.
Him running backward... throw it away and reset for the next down. That's coaching, don't play hero-ball.

The most fruitful plays in a passing game are when a QB steps up in the pocket lol

did that very well, I wouldn't want him on a flag football team after last season

I'm not the one pushing Nuss as a prospect. I agree he's flawed, and things he did bothered me going back to the pick 6 against Southern.
He needs to get a lot better before I would be comfortable with saying he's going to start in the NFL.
That doesn't mean it's impossible, and it seems there are teams looking at him.

No one said they weren’t. He’s at the Sr bowl, every team has representation there

He's getting great reviews there.
I wish we could have seen this while he was here:

Its possible. Takes time to develop guys. The league wants day 1 starters when that is not the reality for most, even at that level
