Im picking knits, but im not sure segura would be considered oregon states ace
It's not necessarily "aces" it's schools that are staying with their game 1 guy. Segura has been Oregon State's game 1 starter for the past few weeks and was their game 1 reliever before that.

Jesus Christ the obsession with this is unreal. Of course there will be teams pitching off, many of which don't have 2 top end starters. Some teams the best chance to win it all in the Regional is to gamble and start a pitcher in game 1 that CAN be good, but you never know, and save your ace for the all important game 2. LSU isn't in that position. We have 2 great starters and should be 2-0 and I think I read a stat where like 95% of teams that start 2-0 go on to win.
I'm sure it is you younger guys that always have all the answers, but my god, just stop
I think the argument in LSU's case for saving their two top end guys is if LSU does so, and wins game 1, then they have their two "aces" ready for game 2 and (presumably) a clinching game 3 against better competition and that LSU shouldn't NEED their #1 starter vs the worst team in the regional (and maybe the entire tournament).
I do agree the discussion is likely just a moot point, time killer. It's possible LSU may never have another SP better than Skenes. Yet, Jay started him in game 1 vs. a bad Tulane team. Even though you'd love to have Anderson and Eyanson available for games 2 &3 (in the winner's bracket), Jay's not leaving anything to chance in game 1

Why are you completely ignoring that weather will be a factor Jay can't control?

Gut feeling is that AE starts today and Anderson starts game 2. But either way I want to see our offense perform well.

Root is pitching for Arky! That was as of last night though.

That’s incorrect. It’s Jimenez. He’s one of their primary bullpen arms and not a regular starter. They’re going against NDSU, another 4 seed with losing record. Similar situation as LSU.

Boosie, you didn’t want to give any credit to the person who compiled this info you copy and pasted it from??
Only kidding. Just saw it while scrolling across my timeline on X (s/o to @ari_gerson on the Vandy beat). Them algos is scrong.
This is good info and something neat to track over course of weekend. Will definitely be checking back in.

I agree. I pretty sure both teams have 4 batting from the left sid but DBU has a harder time against leftys. Thats why I hold Kade until tomorrow.

quote:I’m pretty sure even that was a 2 v 3. LSU hosted but East Carolina was the 1 and Southern was 4.
That time was when LSU was facing 4 seed ULM who had future MLB all star Ben Sheets on the bump.
It was the first year of the 64 team tournament, 4 team regional format and merit wasn’t yet playing as big of a part to host as it does today.

Jay will keep his rotation and pitch Anderson. Last time he was off schedule was one of his worst outings. Plus anyone who sits 2-0 in the winner's bracket has a massive % to win a regional. He has 2 aces he's going to pitch them in the first 2 games.

I believe UGA and OM is pitching their Saturday starter where Arky and Auburn are pitching midweek types.

I wasn't try to steal her tweet. I would usually just embed the tweet in the OP but she had them split up into multiple tweets and you can't embed more than one tweet in the same post. I'll update the OP with her twitter account.
