I love seeing the big man nailing 3's and fall away jumpers. But hope he'll begin utilizing his size more with some low-post moves and high percentage shots in the paint.

Hopefully this is something we'll see more of as the season progresses.

He absolutely needs to develop that before leaving.

Well Wade better help him do it quickly b/c Reid will not be here for long. I'd be shocked if he's not a one and done.

Reid apparently missed a few practices before the game last night as he was banged up some, you could tell.

Heard he was playing hurt last night, but yeah, I largely agree.

As he gets more comfortable Reid will start to mix it up more. One good thing is it might help him stay out of foul trouble.

The style of play in basketball at all levels is trending in the direction of space the floor. Pulling Reid away from basket pulls that team's best big away from basket as well and opens up the court.

Wade is running plays for Reid like the Pels do with Anthony Davis.

wade tried to post him up a couple of times later in the game and memphis was having none of it. not much you can do when the defense is denying the post except to hit the open man, which lsu did.

i would imagine that is going to be the story all season. teams just aren't going to let reid operate down low, teams that are better than memphis like auburn, tenn, fla, ky, state, vandy, etc. get used to it. if i'm a coach, i'm taking my chances with him on the outside that he's going to charge trying to get to the rim or miss a 3.

having said that, you could design some plays with 2 bigs down low and see which one pops open. if the d sags a man into the paint, lsu has 3 on 2 outside. i like lsu in that scenario every time against anybody. no way any team can guard skylar, tremont, javonte with 2 players

Ya this team also needs a knock down shooter bad. Even if we had a Hornsby this team would be going places... still might be able to.

I think we'll see more designed isolation plays for Reid later in the year. Wade himself works with the bigs at practices. He'll help develop Reid.

Yeah, you can see he's immensely talented, and this isn't to rag on him, but it is kind of a waste of his size to have him out on the perimeter so much. I like when a big man has the ability to hit the three, but I don't care for this mentality that so many young big men are being taught, with this camping out at the three point line.

Hopefully he's just trying to get some confidence in his shot, at this level, and we'll start to see him move inside more. Because along with needing an inside scoring presence, it's important to have his size in position for offensive rebounds. We've got plenty of guys who can shoot it from outside.

He’s shooting like 60% FG. To think he’s only sitting on the perimeter is ridiculous.

He's going to create significant matchup problems when we start SEC play.

Who said he was "only" sitting on the perimeter? Yeah, he's had some dunks and put backs. But he's taken a lot of three's. There just isn't any reason for that. It's not a criticism of him, because he's a good shooter. But your bigs should be inside rebounding when others miss, and drawing defenders to the rim to open things up for guys like Waters, Smart, Mays and Edwards, who can all shoot it.

I'm fine with Reid taking the open three when the opportunity presents itself. I just don't want him to spend half or more of his time camped out on the perimeter.

Totally agree he’s a big man playing a small mans game. Back to the basket ball is a lost art. These kids watch the NBA and it’s all about perimeter play . I’m just happy he’s a decent defensive rebounder and defender . He will help us but will also cost us with empty possession trying to do to much off the dribble Reid isn’t great at posting up and looked bad doing it on his one attempted shot . Thankfully we’ve got theWilliams who play well in the post.

You don't pay attention to what bigs have to do now in the NBA to make it do you?

The days of sitting on the block are gone. He came to LSU to showcase his talents for next year's draft, and that's exactly what Wade is putting him in the position to do.

If you watch, he looks absolutely natural posting up. Has he done it a whole lot? No, but when he has he showed he was absolutely capable.

Maybe it's his size, but he looks kind of awkward doing everything else. Although, he has shown the ability to do it all. Make no mistake about it, if he sat on the block all game he would absolutely dominate. The kid is a player.

He was on a short leash with Wade last night even before the foul trouble. Believe I heard he was sick and missed a couple practices?

It is still early. I am sure we'll see Reid's post game more as this season progresses.

Meanwhile, Emmitt Williams looked solid inside against Memphis.

I don't know why you are explaining to me that he can dominate in the post. This is precisely what I'm saying that I want him to do. I know he is capable. Did I question his ability? No. I said I want him to move inside more.

And yes, I see what bigs are doing in the NBA. What gave you the impression that I didn't? I specifically said that I don't care for the mentality that is being taught to young big men, to sit on the perimeter.

He's here to help this team win. He can showcase all of his skills without trying to emulate the Kevin Love's of the world. Scouts aren't stupid. They know if he can shoot or not, without him having to force the issue.
