Holy hell didn't know Laron Landry ran a 4.35 at the combine?

Just asked this question in the Jamal Adams thread. Looked it up. Anyone else got any shockers by former players at the combine or their pro day?
I also thought Travin Dural was faster than his 40 time this year. This doesn't just have to be about speed.

Laron was another of these physical specimens.

Dural clearly lost a full step after his injury and looked much slower this season than he did in 2015 unfortunately.

Dural definitely seemed faster a few years back.

Was surprised that me and Ali Highsmith had roughly the same 40 time

Granted, he was 213 pounds at the combine, but still that is incredible.

Jerry Rice ran a 4.71

I know the comparison is about defenders in this thread but still, hear me out.

Yes it's cool to compare people at this, but most of the time it's meaningless. Lateral movement, agility, and power overcome this. You don't hit a homerun without making at least one guy miss very often.

Game speed is another element. How many times was fournette caught from behind? I can remember a few, but guys had an angle. But even still, how much is .15 a factor if it takes 30-40 yards to catch em? Most of the time a defender has to turn and run to catch a guy that's already at full speed in those moments.

Plus... even if you make it there, good luck bringing a 240 lbs animal to the ground by anything but a shoe lace

He left too early but with that kind of speed I don't think it would have mattered.

He and Faulk were a good combo but Bradley James was no where close to Faulk's slowness.

So my dad's friend is/was business partners with Early Doucet. Got to talk to Early a couple times. Told my dad's friend that Ali didn't take training seriously, Early wanted Ali to train with him. When Ali ran the bad time Early explained how running the forty is such a science now and you can't just walk out and run it.

I thought Ali would've made it in the league honestly. He was so good in college. Also thought Early Doucet would've had a little longer career.

Talked to a LSU baseball player back in Landry's college days & he said he was in Landry's apt, long story, short version, he found a "closet full of juice", row upon row in his closet. Got it from his brother who was with the Falcons at the time.
