When did this phrase come about?Sounds dumb. Much worse than holding up backwards “L”.
Then again our coach sounds like coach from waterboy. Must have been when he started.

Been around FOREVER. Certainly since 50’s-60’s if not earlier. It’s lyrics from “Tiger Rag”, jazz/swing song.
