When you think of toughness, dedication and getting the most out of your talent, if you never saw him play at LSU, think Jacob Hester. Hokie was tough, humble and dedicated. He was and always will be a great Tiger. He had a tough act to follow coming right after Charles Alexander. He blocked for Charlie when Simmons wasn't, he backed up Charlie and when Charlie left, he carried the mantle as only Hokie could.
Very sad day for Tiger Nation. Geaux Hokie!

Since following LSU football since late 1950s, I can tell you...there NEVER was a tougher, more honest talking football player than Hokie Gajan!!! NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just saw this.

This is a really tragic coincidence. There were two people set to be announced into the Saints HOF this year: Will Smith and Hokie Gajan.

Great comparison. He was the Hester of his era.
Hokie has long been an inductee into my personal Hall of Fame. It's a special honor that he shares with Dalton Hilliard.
For those that don't know, a Catholic upbringing requires a ceremony known as Confirmation where the teenage candidate takes on a Saint name similar to a sponsor to share the journey through Catholicism. The name I chose was Hokie Gajan. But Sister Mary Bitch (not her real name) would not permit it. I ended up adding his name beneath St Paul on my name tag anyway.
Rest in Peace Saint Hokie Gajan.

Terrible news. Sincere condolences to family and friends. He will be mourned by LSU, Saints, and sports fans in general.
He was a great player, and an even better human being.
