do you honestly think he was intentionally fouling the balls off & not trying to put them in play?

You think it can't happen intentionally?

I understand that. But they became more strict on the zone bc of those two guys gettin all the calls. Maddox was filthy , I am not taking anything away from him.

absolutely, it's pretty obvious when that sort of battle is taking place, the interviewer even brought it up after the game, he hit a hr in that ab, it's been a while but I think it may have been a game winner

I'll bet you everything in your bank account that he wasn't intentionally trying foul pitches off instead of putting them in play.

fyi....fighting off a pitch is not the same as intentionally fouling it off.

Sure. Since we're on the internet and are playing lets read a guys mind from 20 years ago...

But why couldn't it be intentional. Hitters fight off pitches all the time without the intention of putting it in play as they swing.

this is the rant and everyone is an expert so I'm checking out after this, I played baseball, baseball not T-ball or coach pitch but baseball, from 6 yrs. old through college and two years after, I know the difference, not that it takes that much experience to know that, I knew the piss wars wouldn't take long to gin up

OK, whatever.
I'm not trying to argue with you, but that's just not true.
It is EXTREMELY rare & ridiculously difficult to read a pitch and intentionally foul it off.

Todd Walker chimes in:

Hitting:
The ability to stay back on offspeed on every pitch,
and be quick enough to recognize and hit the fastball.
Not the other way around - Most hitters aren't quick enough, and it throws the entire tempo out of balance.

Laird hits lots of foul balls so all the kiddies can have a souvenir.

You mean when a hitter swings with the sole intention of getting a piece of it so he can see another pitch instead of getting struck out? You think that's rare?

This is what I did depending on pitcher. If pitcher threw more junk, looked off speed. If they were a fire baller, look fastball.
