Hines/Rosenthal probably would have been higher rated as OL?

I remember reading that Hines and Rosenthal seemed much better fits as a OG and OT respectively but they preferred to play DL in college.

Am I remembering that correctly?

Yes you are.

Dare was a 5-star recruit at OT when he was committed to Alabama. He dropped to a 3-star when he declared he was going to play defense and worked his way back to a 4-star.

Hines was one of the top rated off guards and stayed a 4-star during his switch but was not near as high of a 4-star on defense.

Just makes the whole rebuilding both lines kind of bullshite. You obviously whiffed on some guys on the oline so now you got to move guys from the dline over. when we had depth issues at both.

Glad Orgeron is fixing things and winning fast.

Yeah, who ever heard of strengthening your lines of scrimmage by recruiting guys who can play on either side? Versatility is so overrated.

Yeah, signing a 5-star OT and one of the top OG's who want to play defense was total bullshite. They should have signed a 5-star OT and OG and 5-star DT. Screw scholarship limitations.

Doesn't every college football team? But, I think this has more to do with Ingram being in legal trouble and indefinitely suspended.

Which is it? Is it bullshite or both lines had depth issues? You can't have both.

Talk about bullshite. You wish he was doing neither instead of both. He probably still appreciates your BS comment though.

I view Rosenthal as a more physical imposing version of Orlando Pace. Bright futures for both these kids.
They will be cashing checks on Sundays.
Next year's offensive line looks to be comparable to the LSU O-line of 2013. One of the better collections of talent by any one position group in recent history. WE COMING

I'm not a big O fan, but I can't fault him in this.

The plan is to get the best linemen you can... and generally, they shouldn't be expected to play as freshmen.
So, Rosenthal is a 5 star on OL, 3-4 on D? And he tells teams that he wants to play D, instead of O?
That's fine, you let him come in as a D Lineman then. If by chance he blows it up, you have a good DT. If he doesn't, and he "comes to his senses", you then have a 5 star guy who will be ready to play on the line within a season.

It sure beats drawing a line in the sand, saying "we'll only take you as a ____", and losing him to another program.

added- usually, the kids are competitive enough that things work out. They look at, say, the OL struggling, say "I can do better than that", and are ready to jump into playing time.

the poster you are replying to does not care about individual players and what they are capable of.

He hates the LSU head coach and saw an opportunity to bash. That is all his post was about.

So you are saying you agree with the idiot and think it is a bad thing for LSU to move two players from Dline to Oline? Two players who were much higher rated on the offensive side?

Is that what you are saying??? Don't worry about the staff or Nixon plumbers answer a simple question.

Here is a picture of me after meeting you at Sonic. This is after eating a #2 double no cheese, onion rings and drinking a Route 44 root beer first. Can we make it 6:00? I will be hungry when I show up.

OMG- this is as bad as when Saban moved M Spears from TE to DE. lol I'm sorry but these are 2 great moves by the LSU coaching staff. And by the way, Spears was rated the #1 TE in the nation coming out of High School, you have to do what is in the best interest of your team.

I mean just looking at Rosenthal’s measurables, they are the ideal #s for a LT. I agree that it was a great move by O to let him try DL. O knew there were already studs there and that Ronsenthal would probably see the writing on the wall himself.

If he showed out at DL, great! If he realized after a summer and early season practices that OL would be best, also great.
