As of 2013, Mainieri was at $750,000 and was the highest paid coach in the SEC.

Before anybody thinks he doesn't deserve to the highest paid SEC coach, tell me who is better than him in the conference?

Nobody is better than him in the conference right now, IMO. He deserves every dime of that money.

UL may have something to say about that.

SEC Coaching salaries

However, UCLA just signed their coach to an extension worth 1.125 million a year. He missed the NCAAT this season. They actually had a losing record.

Oregon pays their coach 800k per year as well.

Thought they were the best team in the state of Louisiana all year, personally.

there was a post in a thread after the game monday that claimed that SLU and ULL are getting the best players from the state now and that LSU's recruiting is why we haven't been winning.

That link was dated a little more than a year ago. I'm pretty sure there have been some changes in salaries since then and Auburn having a new coach.

ULL and Southeastern get mostly in state talent only. They've gotten some really good players lately. LSU gets players from other states that those two schools couldn't touch.

Obviously who's better is subjective. I think the only guy you could argue is maybe Vandy's coach. PM has a national title and has been to the CWS (with LSU) one more time than Vandy. However, I don't think anybody would argue that LSU's baseball tradition and emphasis on success is far greater that Vanderbilt's. Accomplishments alone will say PM. But if you look at the situations both coaches were brought into, one could argue that Vandy's coach might be doing a better job than PM.

Good. Screw them for making a mockery of the CWS last year with that snoozeball shite.
