Not knocking him at all. Just making a statement about his running style. I expect that he will be a handful for our defense.

No doubt -- I was more complementing your post as Clement isn't a back that runs defenders over, but he slips through plenty of tackles because of how strong he is in the lower-body.

Given what happened in our three losses, I expect Wisco to go right at the interior early and often with Clement.

Yep, with some short, safe passes. This is a great opening test for the Dline. Really excited.

I should be in Green Bay around 8pm on Thursday. Leaving work in downtown Chicago around 4pm, but traffic is a bitch at the 90 (to Madison) and 94 (to Milwaukee) split.

We are flying into Milwaukee Wednesday and will be staying there until Friday around noon. Then off to Green Bay. Let me know if you Badger fans have any Milwaukee recommendations.

To say Wisconsin has one to three guys that would make LSU's two deep is just silly. My guess is that they have 10-15 guys.

Yes LSU has more talent and more guys that will play in the league. Still, the Tigers were fortunate to win in 2014 aided by three injuries. LSU had all the same advantages in that game.

I think LSU will win and maybe with relative ease, but Wisconsin is not a N. Texas or MTSU type of team.

No doubt that LSU has more talent and more NFL players on the roster, but Wisconsin is no slouch with getting players into the NFL, either.

Between 2011-2016, there only four programs with more Top-75 picks than Wisconsin: Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, and Florida State.

In addition, and including B1G teams only, only Ohio State has more first-round picks since 2000.

No one would confuse Wisconsin with being as successful as any of the four aforementioned programs, but it's a testament to just how good of a developmental program Wisconsin is.

I'll be there Wisky fans, looking forward to some beers and football talk with y'all. I absolutely love OOC openers and the interaction you get to have with fans around the country. It gets so tiring going back and forth with the same ol' BS with Bama, Florida and Ole Miss people. I didn't get to make the Houston trip two years ago, so I'm so fired up for this one.

I echo hoops.
Uw is a developmental program with a few studs mixed in. The junior senior 3 star can usually hold his own against the freshman 4 or 5 star. Along with an underrated home state recruiting base where we get some impact walk on from.....that's how we get it done.

Dave Aranda explains decision to leave Wisconsin

Great article that I wanted to share from January. This piece by Evan Flood showcases the kind of guy Dave Aranda is, and hopefully puts into light just how much respect he has for Paul Chryst.

One section of the article I wanted to share, which includes Vince Biegel (arguably Wisconsin's best player):

quote:

One in particular, outside linebacker Vince Biegel, made a big push for Aranda to stay. Following the Holiday Bowl, Biegel told reporters he'd "take a bullet" if it meant Aranda would be around for his senior season.

But it was to no avail.

After accepting LSU's offer, Aranda called Biegel and had a heart-to-heart conversation that Aranda struggled to get through.

"I told him I knew it was a shock to him, I tried not getting emotional, but it's hard not getting emotional with that guy," Aranda explained. "I love Vince and I have so much respect for him.

"It was a difficult call."

**Note: I don't think this is a VIP article, but let me know if it is.

Brewery tour(s). I would go to Lakefront and to Milwaukee Brewing Co.

Harley Museum, Public Museum, Art Museum, Domes...

Bayview has some fantastic restaurants, particularly Vanguard, Centraal, Honeypie (breakfast), and Palomino.

Why do that? Wisconsin is a program that I respect greatly. Year after year they win with talent that is undervalued. They should have beaten LSU in the opener in 2014. Playing Wisconsin in Lambeau isn't going to be a picnic.

to be fair.. since 2013, Wisconsin has signed 5 players with a (247) composite of over .90..
LSU has signed 57 in the same period.

Wisconsin does an absolutely incredible job finding/developing "diamonds in the rough," and producing winning teams with those players.

It seems fitting to me that Bielema is at Arkansas, because the two programs seem very similar (Which doesn't exactly bode well for LSU in this matchup - lol).

Either way.. I can't wait for the season to start with a match up against a quality opponent in a fantastic venue.

I would argue Arkansas has nowhere near the level of sustained success UW has. Of course, those struggles have been aided by the fact that they're in the SEC. Methinks that fat old Bert developed an ego that made him think he was a miracle worker and clearly that hasn't been the case (though it does seem Arkansas is improving).

Those recruit rankings are just insane.

I really can't see that. I just can't see double digits..

LSU is among tops at several positions followed up by guys with serious talent and experience.

LSU returns 18 starters, 9 on offense 9 on defense and behind many of them are guys with experience and many 4 and 5 stars.

Of course they aren't a N Texas or MTSU type of team, but LSU this season finally has balance on both sides of the ball.. finally has leadership like a 2011, and finally returns elite seniors. They should take care of Wisconsin, but of course anything is possible.

I expect 3 passing and 3 rushing TDs personally. I think LSU is that good.

Without question.

Over the last 25 years, Wisconsin has been a Top-20 program, both in terms of number of wins and win percentage. Even in CFB's most-recent era (BCS), prior to the CFB playoff, Wisconsin had one of the 15 best records and boasted a win percentage over .700.

Since Penn State joined the B1G, only Ohio State has more conference championships.

Arkansas has never won a conference championship as a member of the SEC.

To Bret Bielema's credit, despite my feelings towards him, he looks to have Arkansas headed in the right direction.

Agreed.

I suppose it depends on your preference (sophomore vs. senior), but Corey Clement and Derrius Guice are very comparable players. Not only are they similar in size, but they are powerful in the lower-body and can shed tackles.

On the OL, I do think Dan Voltz and Michael Deiter would find a spot in the two-deep. Both are very good players with versaility to play both guard spots and center, though neither would start ahead of Ethan Pocic.

Vince Biegel, without question, would have a spot on the LSU defense. Like Clement, Biegel was not an undervalued talent. He was rated as one of the top OLB's in the country out of HS and has developed into a terror coming off the edge. As stated in one of my initial posts, PFF says that Vince Biegel is the top-returning 3-4 OLB in the country. He graded out No. 1 against the run and pass in 2015.

Outside of these four, I doubt you're finding any player on Wisconsin that would make their way into the two-deep for LSU.

That being said, and as I stated in a previous post, there may not be a program better at developing its players than Wisconsin. For the high-number of undervalued HS prospects they get, it is impressive how many get into the NFL. In the last five years, only LSU, Alabama, Ohio State, and Florida State have more Top-75 draft picks. Unfortunately for the Badgers, they are going up against one of the premier programs in sending players to the NFL.
