Hope these starting pitchers are just having the jitters and get back on track. If not, we are in for a long season.

We know

Even out of necessity it may be best to just go with an unproven younger guy

Hess will be an average starter at best. He’s a great bullpen pitcher and there is nothing wrong with that. Many of the best relief pitchers in the MLB are failed starters. But for those on here who thought he was going to be the next dominant starter at LSU clearly didn’t see or chose to forget what he did as a starter last year vs what he did as the closer.

He was an above average starter as a freshman and did very well in the summer league.

Did you watch at all last season? This isn't his first start

And you know all of this based off of his start in 1 game this season

Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit is it? He started a few mid week games last season and looked bad in some and great in others.

Name me who should have started tonight over Hess please.

Hess may very well not make it as a starter. He may very well be better coming out of the pen. To make this thread, after 1 start, is just flat out stupid.

Ding ding ding

This was about as bad of a start as I’ve seen unfortunately but you can’t ignore a years worth of data over one game.

The problem with that is Walker is not healthy. Gilbert isnt a sure thing Friday night guy. Hess is our best arm on the staff this year. He is being given a chance to start out of pure necessity.

If Hess ends up in the pen it means we are in big big trouble. Or it means some young arms came out of nowhere.

Baseball is the worst when it comes to people who love to point out that they know it all AFTER the fact.

Hess had a bad outing, so he shouldn't have started.

The question of who should have started instead cant be answered yet though, because they don't have anybody to point to yet. As soon as somebody has a good outing out the pen, then you'll see the thread "Hess shouldn't start, but player X should." Because you know, then they will be able to point to those few innings and say they knew it all along.
