Arrambide will be ready by then…Texas player of the year with all kinds of talent. This is the perfect scenario…Hernandez transfer here to let Arrambide have time to adjust.

Yes if agree but if he doesnt improve behind the plate, Jay won't waste time looking for another catcher. How is it that Arrambide comes to LSU with the accolades he has(glad we got him) and fumbles like he does behind the dish? Yes he is very talented but he is very below average on defense. I don't wanna hear he is just a freshman. He has been a catcher his whole life right? There absolutely no excuses. None.

the guys throwing to him this year aren’t High Schoolers.

Going to go out on a limb and say the stuff pitchers are throwing to him now is a little different than what he was catching in high school and little league. He needs to improve. No one is going to argue that.

Because he has a huge arm. Has been clocked throwing 102 from the OF and 90 from the catcher position at showcases. He also has a huge bat. That's how he has the accolades he does. He's shown off how strong his arm and bat are at LSU already.

Here is a sample of his scouting report. Seems pretty accurate

surely you people dont think all he has caught was hs? His hs(9-12)summer league showcase travel teams in tournaments/round robins are filled with 90 plus. Come on bro. What's the excuse for any other player who is/was a freshman that started the last few years at lsu? What about Milam, Curiel, Larson, Brown to name a few. Im not saying he can't improve but he has alot of improving to do.

His scouting report out of high school was an average catcher defensively. An average freshman catcher defensively is exactly what he looks like. If you expected something else and were just looking at his overall ratings, then that's on you.

What about them? Outside Milam, those other freshman didn't do anything spectacular defensively in the field last year. Playing outfield is also just a little different than playing catcher.

You know who looked like toilet water on defense? Jacob Berry. He was a 1st round draft pick as a junior in college. You want to know why? Because he was an awesome hitter.

explains alot. Hope he improves

Everyone is expected to improve their craft on defense. It doesn't matter who plays what, he "chose" to be a catcher. No excuses. I hope he gets better.

His arm makes up for a lot. No one is running against him. And he will improve on defense over time. he’ll also be one of our best offensive catchers ever. He has no errors and 2 past balls ..relax

They play much easier positions. There’s a reason catcher has always been a defensive first position.

not all players transition the same.
some hit the ground running and are immediate studs.
some take time to come around.
some never come around at all.

how many of those are currently pitching on a top 10 team in the country at the highest level of college baseball?

he talent gap between top and high school and top end college is huge.

Cade has started 9 games ..has 3 HRs 10 rbi..thrown out numerous steal attempts…but has allowed 2 passed balls and you almost act like CJJ should drop the guy. Yes..you need to relax

Oh..and Hernandez has 3 passed balls

Hernandez was a good pickup, but monster upgrade?

His offense is an upgrade over LY, downgrade defense over LY. so i would say an upgrade, but not monster upgrade.

i think people are just feeling better these days that a new catcher with long ball capability and chance at being above 300 is a nice change in the 7 hole compared to the "last catcher" we had. There is a difference imo. The title is alittle exceptional tho.

He's not bad, but a downgrade from last year

I don’t know enough about Priester, but after Hernandez(this year) the defensive drop off is an absolute cliff from Arrambide.
