I wish someone would pass this memo along to Matt McMahon.

A good friend in HS walked on to LSU back in the '70s.

He played HS football as a running back and ran track. He was really quick. He made all district our senior year in footbal and track. He was a good HS player, but was small, only about 5'7" and about 160 lbs. But he was quick

He managed to get a meeting with the RB coach and the coach told him that he had the resume and credentials to make a credible shot as a walk on.

So he walked on. He says that he realized he wasn't going to be a football player for LSU when he got hit by AJ Duhe the first time. He got knocked out and suffered a concussion.

That was the end of his LSU football career.

I tried to walk on back in 1995 as a PK but Wade Richey was the ace. No way was I going to beat out that dude.

gave it a shot, it was fun. That was my first introduction to how fricking big some of those OL are. The water fountains near their lockers were up to my chin.

so...Never played a snap for LSU...

To be fair, I'm willing to bet that list was long and distinguished.
