I want to be outraged by this (and I do think it's pretty low class of Fowler to not tell the coaches ahead of time, and for Strong to encourage this bullshite)...but judging by history, karma will rear it's head eventually.
Janzen Jackson. Toshiro Davis. Where are they now?
Who remember Jackson being in involved in the holdup with the other players wearing TN gear and using a freaking Prius for a getaway car???

Strong said he knew that all "but about four" were coming to UT and he wasn't going to let up. Again, he knew, but didn't want them to tell him or anybody, regardless if they were committed somewhere and knowingly going to flip. So while you may think people are blowing it out of proportion, I would suggest they are simply pointing out the how Charlie used these kids and their families as pawns to pull-off his coup. The end does not justify the means, especially when you incite others to withhold truth.

Agree with everything except wanting him for a head coach.

This stuff is what I expected when tx replaced a legendary coach with this idiot who won a few games at a basketball school because of ONE special player
In all fairness to Strong, the "legendary" coach left a fricking grease fire in his wake and acted like an egomaniacal baby when he realized he was on his way out.

Reminds of kiffen At Tennessee. That backfired as the guys that were willing to do this had major character flaws and it ultimately blew up in there face.

It's going to be hilarious when Strong gets fired after this season.

Yes, because LSU has never flipped a kid or ever done anything unethical. Some of you guys on here should go find the bully who took your nuts and fight to get them back.

I don't know how many times people have to repeat this but it's not about the flipping, it's about not having the nuts to tell LSU's coaches ahead of time.
Name one player committed to another team that CLM encouraged to flip at the last minute without telling the other team, and I'll honestly be just as outraged.

Only will work once.. Won't get away with it next year and his record will still suck.

Wow and I'm supposed to see Charlie on the 19th of this month. I get his point about the negative recruiting on his losing season, but man that is sending a wrong message to young men. Damn I don't know what to say to him now.

I hope Charlie Strong loses his job and gets blacklisted for being a dirty lying SOB. Strong would have fit right into the old days of the Southwest Conference. frick his arse.

Sounds like Strong is desperate and turned to classless tactics. What kind of example is Strong teaching these young men?

If you gave a school your word by committing to them, then the honorable thing to do is tell them when you decide to go elsewhere.
If a coach encourages them to do something dishonorable, the parents should tell the coach, "Thanks, but no thanks." My child will stay as far away from you as he can.
These kids need to go where they want to go. If it's LSU, then great. IF not, then we'll play against you. These kids need good role models, and if Strong really told recruits to do this, then he should be FIRED. Texas should get rid of him now. He will be a cancer to those kids. They deserve better. Shame on the parents for not standing up for what is right.
Coaches are supposed to teach the kids good sportsmanship. This clearly was a poor thing to do, if that is what happened.

You guys are clueless as to Strong's intentions because you read one article and are twisting the words to fit your narrative so you feel better about losing a recruit.
Strong does not tell all of his recruits to not commit until NSD. That's just dumb if that's what you think. If that was the case, he wouldn't have had any commits until Wednesday.
His approach is he doesn't want you to commit until you're done taking all your officials so that
(a) he knows you've shopped around and have come to a firm decision as to minimize decommits
(b) doesn't give opposing coaches the opportunity to negatively recruit against him.
Strong has said on numerous occasions that he puts little faith in a verbal commit because now, it's simply a reservation. He'd rather let a recruit go take his visits and lose him vs taking the commitment, then suffering the black eye of having a decommit once they change their mind (e.g. the last month of A&M's class getting hammered) . This is only backed up by the increasing number of decommits every year.
This tin foil hat theory of Strong telling Fowler to not decommit also doesn't hold water because if that was his intention, he would have told Chris Daniels and Jordan Elliot to do the same. Strong flipped a few guys but Fowler was the only one still committed come signing day. The other guys decommitted the week before.
You'd rather think Strong set up some diabolical plan with Fowler and his family vs an emotional teenager trying to make one of the bigger decisions of his life and not being sure up until NSD. Yeah, let's go with the first one, that sounds logical... The only person in this thread who gets it is Duckie.
I can only imagine how fun this thread would have been if Rahssan Thorton had followed through with his potential flip.
