This is what they do best. Confusion. That's the name of the game.
This is what propelled them to beat Ohio state because "what they do best" was getting them skull dragged
Some ya'll have never studied that game and it shows

I'm just glad Mighty Yat is not coach. Because if it were up to him he would completely ignore a defensive concept Clemson has spent all summer attempting to perfect for an offense like LSU's

Key is when joe checks down, making the first guy miss.

Where Clyde will hopefully shine.
JK Dobbins could've won that game on his own if he had caught some passes and wasn't hampered by that ankle injury.

The single biggest offensive facet that will kill Clemson is LSUs ability to run the playbook without substituting.
They can go tempo and not only keep subs out but jack up presnap reads sent in by BV.
They will be forced into a base defense for stretches.

I'm guessing whatever defense Clemson runs, Isiah Simmons will be stationed in the deep middle of the field to not only read Burrow's eyes but to also try to take the middle of the field away from Burrow.
As the middle of the field is where LSU has completed the majority of their passes this season. So Clemson will try to take that away and at the same time, try to snatch a couple of interceptions as well. Hence, it will be critical for Burrow to know where Simmons is at all times on the field and to constantly look him off.

Iowa State has very good success with that scheme but they give up a ton of rushing yards and good QBs and O lines give them fits.
If this is the best Clemson has they are in trouble.

One of the biggest things Clemson will have to show is patience. If they start pressing on defense because Burrow is methodically operating the offense it will get out of hand quickly.

LSU is balanced as they come and can attack anywhere. It doesn’t matter the defense, you can’t out scheme it. They will exploit you somewhere else.

If they play three safeties, Clyde will set the rushing record for the NCG. Joe will also dink it to Clyde, Moss and Marshall up and down the field.

Also for the game against ohio state, the announcers mentioned that venables loves to make really late presnap calls after offense shows their hand. They said it was his calling card. So id imagine we try to go up tempo to try to throw him off and give him less time to figure out what he wants to do.

Hope so. OU had the same strategy.
Barring turnoverS LSU won’t be stopped. This offense is a 1st in the history of college football.

I would suspect that LSU has watched as much Iowa State film as Clemson has.....

We have faced multiple teams who dropped 8, and multiple teams who employed the three DL/3 Safety look.
If you all remember the Todd Harris injury in the opener, that prevented us until the Mo Hampton light went off from running our version of this same 3 man front with 3 safeties look. But Aranda was planning on using it this year.
So it isn’t a wrinkle. We practiced against this and have seen it in games.

I agree. Venables is very good at what he does. Great, even. But his scheme is predicated on creativity and misdirection, and that’s only sustainable as long as you can get the personnel you need on the field to avoid repetition in your pre-snap looks. You could see how when OSU went tempo in the 4th, they had Clemson’s D absolutely on its heels. That game only ended the way it did because Clemson got very lucky on a miscue by an OSU receiver. Credit the FS for making the catch, but the bottom line is that if the receiver doesn’t break off the first part of his route too soon, the easy catch is never there to make.
Of course it goes without saying that Venables is very aware of LSU’s ability to run many consecutive plays with the same personnel, but the question is how that helps him game plan without deviating from the scheme that has made his defense so successful. It’s like you either have to stick with the status quo and hope the other team makes more mistakes than yours, or you have to try to find that elusive X factor and hope there’s enough time to teach your D to execute a scheme based around that (at least as a backup plan if the opponent goes tempo at any point).
Pull it off, and you look like a genius ... rightly so ... but the odds of pulling it off have to seem pretty daunting.

LSU will have ways to offset it but it will slow our drives down. We just need TD's in red zone not 3's

I think it will take a couple of series to get a handle. Then they will go up tempo and execute Clemson.
JB will have answers after a couple series so don't freak out.

I expect Joe to get some rushing yards and yards throwing on the run. A QB that is a run threat and pass threat has substantial advantage.
