An idiotic statement!!! Football is 4 or 5 months away. A football guy advocating for no football season at this point? He should work for CNN!

You people need to wake up. Healthcare is swamped especially in NO and in many key cities around the country. Even if turned into seasonal it's most likely returning in the fall/winter so yeah.

Didn't realize this many beta cucks supported LSU. Dude, a whole new strain could emerge next year too. You gonna live your life in a bubble? Are we going to live in a 24/7 lockdown because someone might get sick? There's a difference between not taking it seriously and taking it so seriously we halt life. Maybe you are the one who needs to wake up.

False. This strain of coronavirus is similar to the MERS strain transmitted by camels in the middle east. Temperatures in the middle east routinely exceed 100 degrees. Heat will not kill this virus.

Where did you get .28 death rate? Just wondering

Out of his arse, because the current rate is 1.63, which is 1 in every 66 die. With the flu, it's like 1 in 1700 die.

Would you go watch an LSU game if you were told, "105,000 fans will come in to watch today, but 1590 fans won't leave alive. We don't know who those 1590 are going to be, but they will die."

With those odds, would you still go?

Ok boomer

I’m talking about Herbie people

In case this hasn't been said, not all old people are boomers. Boomer generation = 1944-1964. Herbstreit was born in 1969. He is Gen X.

1964 was the last year with a large spike in births, known as the baby boom.

Lester is correct. We simply do NOT know how C19 plays out. Our entire society is at a tipping point and things are bad in heavily infected states. We, God Forbid, might not have sports for a long time as Herbie forecasts. I hope he is wrong, because if he isn’t, then we will be in a full blown global recession or depression with people still isolating.

Yeah but those numbers are skewed. That only people that were tested. They’re only testing the people that are the sickiest. It also effects older people that have pre existing conditions.

Based on what is currently happening with the new drugs that are successfully being used to treat it and the fact that cases around the world are decreasing I feel confident we are turning the corner on this. Now the political side of this is far from over. There are people who do not want this economy returning to where it was before the November elections.Just a fact.Realistically we should be playing ball in the fall. But politically remains to be seen.

The people in this thread calling Herby an idiot and saying there’s no way the football season is cancelled are the same people who said there was no way the NCAA cancels March Madness

I think there will be football on TV. At least NFL.

Question is whether there will be fans in the stands watching.

Well, I say he's an idiot and I also said the NCAA would be the first group to start cancelling everything to make a statement.

I'll be the outlier here.

Are you that dense you can't see what they're trying to do right now? They're trying to prevent a complete collapse of the healthcare system on top of preventing unnecessary loss of life. Don't even try to quote flu numbers this is not the same thing and if you think it is, you live in a bubble of ignorance.

If everyone followed guidelines the virus would die down where you could potentially contain it easier. But you live in America with your freedoms and lots of people are saying frick it. You're pushing for long term damage by doing this. If everyone completely locked down for 2-3 months with shorter term sacrifice it will die down to where if it surfaces back up aggressive pursuit can likely contain it.

What's happening now is not going to contain it all they're doing is slowing spread. People will not be willing to temporarily be forced to follow guidelines because of your rights. Selfishness and entitlement will be why this virus continues to kill and wreck your economy. Fulfilling when you consider what state we're in now. in the flu of 1918 many areas in the US were able to keep their numbers dramatically lower than anyone else with strict quarantine. Others lost many thousands more even knowing about it.

WW2 had nothing but community. I can't help but think this country right now is completely divided with plenty of selfish people making this situation harder than it should be because they're not willing to sacrifice in the short term. Unknowingly they're creating longer term damage to the country.

Almost 30% of the cases in Louisiana are hospitalized. If no containment happens this number keeps exploding to where you have a collapse on your healthcare system by itself. So if people like you want to live life normally and not suffer short term sacrifice due to selfishness, go ahead but you also shouldn't be allowed to use our healthcare system.
