all these armchair monday morning QBs
we had clowns saying hold skenes the first game also and save for WF. guess what tenner and WF both scored 3 runs against our pitching skenes or not and we may have lost game 2 had we held him because of our lack of offense that game.

They are going to have to eat innings if LSU wants to win it all. Still gotta win 3 games and Skenes is only gonna pitch in one of them. Personally, since Wake has been ice cold so far in Omaha and appeared to lose a little faith tonight, I think tomorrow is the game you try to steal. Start Hurd and hope to get 5-6 out of him, then piece the rest together with everyone else.

Hear me out. Start Morgan in LF and Jared Jones at first. Skenes pitches 1 time through the order. Move Skenes to 1st. Bring on Hurd for 2-3 innings. Then move Skenes back to pitcher and move Morgan to first and Pearson to LF. Skenes gets to have his pregame routine while closing out the game.

Floyd and Hurd will be 100% for the championship series. If they are on like they have been then that gets you through game 1. If you pull that off you have Johnny Wholestaff who has been fricking fantastic in Omaha to throw in game 2 and if they can’t get it done Skenes can find his way to the mound in Game 3.
I don’t think there’s anything that could hold him out of that game IMO. Dudes a competitor and will want the ball in the winner take all game if it gets to that point just like he’s going to demand the start tomorrow.
Im going to pray Skenes gets so much run support tomorrow though that he doesn’t have to go more than 5 innings and we can replace him with Collins/Dutton//Little/Guidry early on and can be prepared to throw Monday if necessary. These things are being discussed now.

Best case scenario, we have a huge lead with 9 outs left to get and we can pull skenes when he has around 100 pitches so he cant pitch on monday

I love the premise! However, this is do or die and you don’t wait until the blade is on your neck to attack.
We’ve gotten to the “There is no tomorrow game.” We empty it all in this game, and then we win the NC series with guts!

I'm not sure what their normal approach is for pitching, but Skenes would likely have had a side bullpen day today or tomorrow anyway. That's a limited pitch count and lower intensity than an actual game, but still, he would have likely gotten some throws in, so throwing him isn't crazy and he has had more rest than any of our starters. Depending on his pitch count tomorrow, you would also have an outside shot at getting some innings from him in game 3 on Monday if needed.
You don't leave Skenes on the bench in a must win game if he I available.
