I like JH, no matter who replaces him, they will be picked apart here on the rant, and well deserved, Lol.

As far as Brando, his opinions suck at times, but like it or not, being the voice of the Tigers might be a step down for him. The dude is respected and well liked by many.

Same here, doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out whats going on in a ball game, no matter how bad the PBP guy is.

On cool crisp Saturday night by the fire at the camp, hearing Jim call a Football game is enjoyable to me, always has been

When we made the last out of the game, Hawthorne said, "And that retires the side." Huh.

Did it? Retire the side I mean.

I posted this in the other thread:

I just went back and listened to it from the geauxzone by pressing the "go back 10 seconds" button like 100 times lol.

The last play was a fly out so it was very anti-climatic as is. He did say "and that retires the side" but followed that up with what happened that inning and the final score.

It didn't cause any confusion and what he said was not incorrect.

JH is the voice of pure clarity and logic compared to John Ferguson. But John had a great voice and you got to where you could have a pretty good guess, what happened on the field as he called the game. It became part of the fun.
Be careful what you wish for...

When complaints reach the level that "And that retires the side" becomes a big deal, I begin to seriously question the objectivity/agenda of the complainer.

Like me, he came from Shreveport, where he was the voice of the Centenary Gents.

I was at Centenary when he was the voice of the Gents basketball team. He was great at it. His side kick was a guy named Irv Zeitman who did the public address when Robert Parish was there.

Hawthorne was never good at football. But painting the picture is not as important today in LSU football because all of the games are on TV.

Back in the day I relied on John Ferguson to describe the action on radio and he was really good.

hopefully its not tha same charlie doin games now because he sounds like we r watching paint dry....

i record innings 3-6 when charlie is doing play by play to help me sleep at night. his call of a home run isn't even exciting, nor does it sound natural. He actually sounds awkward.

He's obviously an LSU fan so a HR must excite him but agreed that it does seem a little forced lol

Nothing comes between Southerners and tradition, it doesn't matter how bad things get.

If JH does retire, Lyn Rollins would be my first choice. He's funny as hell, and knows the game(s).

Give Jim lifetime tickets to the AD suite and set him up with all the hookers he can handle. It's time.
How about free drinks. He will jump on that.
