That’s all. This hasn’t happened at LSU since Saban in ‘99

Today sucks, but I’m happy with NIT in year one.

Dinardo coached in 1999. Saban showed up in 2000, and the awakening began.

According to some folks around here Orgeron is about to put Saban to shame and we are all about to be witnesses. Gonna be a huge "witness" campaign that will dwarf LeBron camlaign.

Saban actually inherited a pretty good amount of talent from Dinardo fwiw. Just needed a mindset change and better coaching.

First Saban wasn’t here until 2000 and second his first SEC championship was with players recruited by Dinardo. The talent was not as bad as people seem to remember. Dinardo could recruit that was not his problem.

Coach O's shirtless pic will adorn the state cap building.

I agree. Looking at the season as a whole I’m so damn impressed by Wade. Not to mention it looks like we’ll be a contender in his 2ns year.

He’s going to take the worst team we’ve ever had and year 1 go to the NIT and likely go to the NCAAT in year 2.

Wish he could coach football.

next year even if we didn’t have the talent coming in I think we would be improved enough with the guys coming back to be in the mix for the NCAA tourney, that being said if wade can get next years team to buy in like this year team and get the most out of these “elite” freshmen. Sweet 16 here we come and maybe beyond.. I see no reason the bar shouldn’t be set. WW seems to welcome it

So, there are 4 other posts in the thread with football references including the OP and the one that I quoted and responded to and you come up with gem. Brilliant!

Btw, if you're counting at home, that's half the thread, not including this post. Fricking whiz kid right here.

I think Saban inherited a sound nucleus but with obvious holes at cornerback and not great depth. Also Dinardo had little traction in recruiting for the 2000 class and basically stopped recruiting before he was canned as the writing was on the wall. We came very close to not having Corey Webster or Randall Gay in the class. As it was, Saban had to piece together the 2000 class.
Jarvis Green, Clark, James, Faulk, Toe, DD, Reed, Royal and Ro etc were certainly nothing to sneeze at.
As for hoops, Wade inherited a lot less than Saban did. That said, this team would have achieved more if it would have had one other decent big man.

It’s a better place to be than having incredible talent and lacking a coach.

Josh Reed, Rob Royal, Trev Faulk, Rohan Davey, LeBrandon Toefield, Jason Baggett, Bradie James, Dom Davis(Williams), and many other talented players were already here when Saban got here.

The man did a great job, but you Sabanistas are funny with your selective memory. Dinardo had done about an 85% turnaround job, at least on the talent, and the "We think we can win these games" mentality with the program already. All Saban had to do was bring a defensive scheme/mindset and get the powers that be to upgrade the facilities and the job was done.

Dinardo had recruited 3 QBs in the same class who would all go on to make NFL rosters. When has that EVER happened at LSU, before or since?

Just, for the record. Now, the talent Saban was able to land in the 2001 and 2003 recruiting classes was pretty impressive, but to act like Josh Reed, Trev Faulk, Bradie James, Toefield, Dom were scrubs is utterly laughable.
