Haven't heard this question asked, but if anyone knows anything, would love your insight

I know every year some players, regardless of sport, are encouraged to look elsewhere. I understand that and it's been going on forever. With so many players leaving, particularly in the major sports, does anyone know about how many players are leaving because they were unable to meet at a certain dollar amount both parties could agree on? Let's face it, college sports is a money game now!
Also, does anyone know when negotiations begin with players they want to keep? I can't see any major school waiting until the season is over because that doesn't leave a lot of time to workout all the details.
With that being said, do colleges now employ NIL teams that are solely responsible for negotiating with players/parents/agents? I can't see any coaches taking part in that because it would seem like a major distraction, not to mention they were hired for their coaching ability, not their financial prowess?

If someone actually had all this data, they would be insane to make it public.

I didn’t make enough money for my wife so she told me to start looking elsewhere

I would suspect NIL agreements have an NDA included.

Baseball players probably aren't making nearly the money the rant believes they are.

I don't expect to be told any type of dollar amounts, but it would be nice to know the process. Right now, all we hear is a player is transferring and that's it. It would be nice to know how LSU is handling the situation because I'm sure every school has their own process of doing things.
Since players can now negotiate directly with the schools, it would be nice to see the language that is used and what it all entails, especially since we are talking about a state school.
Sometimes, we forget that all of this is new and ever-changing, so it would be nice to know what lengths LSU is going to retain the best talent.

Just ask Lester, he tends to know it all...lol

Only thing obvious is that NIL is killing loyalty and tradition in college football. It’s more like a mercenary league and/or minor league of professional sports. Student athletes are becoming more rare every year.

I’m not Lester’s biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination…. But I’ll give him this. Usually when he has a strong opinion about something, he’s right, or at the very least he’s done his homework
On the other hand, you have douchebags like SFP, who run their mouth without knowing jack shite about what they’re talking about. He’s just a know it all attorney who always thinks he’s the smartest person in the room

I agree with all this from the first sentence to the last.

Lester many times does have a lot of knowledge, or at least an informed opinion.
Then again, he should. He LIVES on these message boards day and night, seven days a week.

Unfortunately, you are 100% correct. I think it's safe to say that the words "student athletes" should be considered a foreign language because what's happening in college sports, currently, has absolutely ZERO to do with college and furthering one's education. The current state of college athletics is all about making money and winning at all costs. PERIOD!

LMAO! You seriously think anyone on this board knows this information? SMH

Laugh all you want, but you would be surprised at how many people on here are close to the program or know someone inside the athletic department. Before all the craziness of NIL and the transfer portal, there were 2/3 guys on here that gave great recruiting information and most of the time they were spot on.
I remember one particular time when one of the guys posted that he just learned a big time recruit - that most LSU fans didn't even know they were recruiting - had cancelled his recruiting visit to another SEC school and was flying in late that night. He was the only person with that information, so clearly he had some contacts inside the program.

I’m sure the players also include deep consideration of the academic benefits of matriculating at their respective locations.

I know you're saying that tongue and cheek, but that's really what college is supposed to be about, but sadly, those days are long gone. As best as I can recall, I don't ever remember Saban raising any academic NCs because those don't pay the bills.
The saddest part is NIL and the transfer portal (under the new guidelines) are relatively new, so you can only imagine what it will look like in 20 years!

It depends on the school now doesn’t it? Once again you’ve proved that you don’t know shite unless you think 500K a year is not much money. That’s what 2 players just signed for at Texas A&M. I know that for a fact because I know the person that fund raises for their NIL. Both players were being recruited by LSU after this season.
