I'm sitting here looking at old games from 2012 and 2011,years in that vicinity.
Watching the Clemson bowl game in 2012,the sec championship game in 2011 against Georgia and just highlights of several other games .

I didn't want to start this thread, because of the teams success, this season. I'm absolutely in love with this 2019 team. Anything from here on out is constructive criticism type stuff. Even though I know this take will get a record number of downvotes ,I'll say it anyway.

The coaches on This team have completely given up on the return game. Given up, isn't the best word really, cuz they haven't really ever tried in the first place, this year.

Think of the honey badger, dj chark ,tw,pp7,chad Jones, and trindon holiday.guys,i promise you, there are guys on this year's team that, given the chance, could be just as effective as they were.

I don't think it's stingley or ceh that aren't trying to make a big return happen. I think that there being told to make fair catches, unless, for stingley, it's wide open. This could be cuz we're so good on offense, but why not figure out a way to get stingley some room to return? Try different returns. They seem happy with a fair catch on all returns. I think this game ,Monday ,will take everything we have. Having guys just fair catch everything isn't that.

shite ,where would we have been if honey badger just made fair catches.

Stingley has done a good job. We don't need huge returns with how prolific our offense has been. The emphasis more than likely is and should be on ball security.

We could definitely block better on punts, but i don't think anyone is too worried about Kick Offs.

Securing the ball is the most important thing with this offense.

I personally wouldn't mind Tre Palmer back there next year to spell Stingley at times. i'm probably also just saying this because Palmer has our only punt return TD of the season

I'm 100 percent happy with this team, but there are 3 phases to every game, and I think we're losing the special teams phase, regularly.

Cade York has been OK, especially in big games. Besides that and Avery atkins though, everything else is well below avg. Hell, just look at the stats.

We give up a good bit on kickoff and have gotten gashed on returns. What's the rant think of the special teams Coach?

Well, LSU has had two straight years of really good placekicking. Plus, they have a guy who is almost automatic on touchbacks.

The game itself has tried to put less emphasis on KO returns by giving teams greater incentives to no return kicks. As for punt returns, LSU is putting their All American CB back there. Just because he hasn't broken a return yet doesn't mean LSU isn't "trying."

Besides only one muffed punt, stingley been terrible at pr. Giles was better.

Hes a little better then Giles when it comes to deciding if he needs to fair catch it or not ,but that's it.

Our special teams is top 10 in the country, FYI

You don’t need to resort to tricks or Hail Mary special teams plays when you’re offense is as good as ours.

I mean the coaches have obviously decided to have the returner fair catch kickoffs no matter what. If thats not, not trying, IDK what is.

LSU is 6th in the SEC and 20th in NCAA in average yardage per punt return.

LSU is tied for 3rd in the NCAA /w 2 punt returns for TD.

We aren't losing ST.

KO- we force more touch backs than anyone.
Punts- with a few exceptions we are a good punting team. Freaky play with Waddle and a few shanks here and there otherwise were solid here
FG- mostly good.

Realistically we aren't looking to return most punts or kickoffs. That doesn't mean were losing, its more of a push.

The kickers aren't bad. I'm just saying they could risk it some on kickoffs more for my taste.. Punt returning is non existent. We won 3 games in 2012 just cuz of special teams.

Think how good we would be with a jaylen waddle type back there. We just don't set it up well, coaching is an issue in the punt return game. Hell stingley may be great, wish he had a chance.

Outside of Waddle's return - they've had 6 punts returned against them (out of 39) for a whopping 40 yards.
