I don't remember people packing Alex Box when Smoke was fielding some bad teams.
and yet somehow we still led the nation in attendance, reached the cws twice, hosted postseason games, won an sec title...
not very good memory on your part

I agree with DD 100%. It certainly worked for tOSU and Pryor. He even remarked he liked it and thought it was really cool

I think i've seen some quotes from Richardson about how excited he was to hear the gumps chanting his name at the Bama/LSU basketball game. Obviously, this type of attention means more to some kids than others.

it goes both ways....we bring in basketball and baseball recruits to football games as well.
it is showcasing the university and the fanbase...and I don't really see a problem with it

Stromile Swift, your an idiot if you think Basketball is #2 at LSU.
What on earth are you talking about? You are an idiot if you can't comprehend what was said earlier in this thread. Nationally speaking, I said college basketball is much bigger than college baseball. I also said that before Skip arrived at LSU, baseball was a mere afterthought at LSU.

this is beginning to become standard practice at recruiting trips...if he hasn't seen this yet on one of his trips, he will after he leaves LSU to go to another visit.

I think that only chanting for Reuben will make the other recruits feel left out.
Posted on 1/21/09 at 11:09 am to GeauxTigahs1
I think it would alienate other recruits and any family members who are there.

Chant for Rueben and Trent. Every player knows they are the big dogs in this visit.

There are several big dogs on this trip, particularly when considering position needs.

i'm thinking about going, what time is the game?
Posted on 1/21/09 at 1:22 pm to Cheetah Flex
7pm
You better get your tickets quick, because I'm anticipating a possible sellout IF LSU beats MSU tonight.

I would just let Jay Leno tell Randal that LSU needs him when he appears on the Late Show.

can i get some tickets off lsusports.net? jw i dont go to many basketball games
Posted on 1/21/09 at 1:24 pm to Cheetah Flex
Yep, go to lsusports.net or possibly try LSU ticket marketplace.

I really don't think we need this Xavier win for RPI after how we already beat ULL.

Tangy, you are ate up with the dumbass...
Even good recruits that are there know that RR is a huge prospect. Showing love to one guy is not going to alienate anybody. TEAM players know talent is important.
Chanting or making signs and "going off" is fine during time outs. What else ya gonna do?
It shows LSU has a rabid and knowledgeable fan base.

What the hell is to YUUUUUUUUUUUUUU ?????
You are a visitor on this board and THIS is how you represent yourself and your school ???
Your response would be like me saying you are a gay illegal alien illiterate wife killer.
And you have the absolute GALL to wonder why we don't like USC fans ??????????????????????????
Why couldn't Katrina have hit L.A.
Ohhh, too harsh ???????

quote:No shite. Why is this a problem? Hell, it sounds like some people think we shouldn't be cheering for the track team, or the baseball team, or the Rhodes scholars, or whoever else they bring out to honor at the football games. Cheering for them never seemed to present a problem cheering for the football team, too. Why can't people show up to support the basketball team, and also make some noise to recognize these recruits? Do you really believe our basketball team is soooo sensitive that they will have their feelings hurt if the thousands of fans who come out to see them play also happen to make some noise for Randle or Richardson during halftime, or a timeout, or before the game, or whenever?quote:We do both.
Do we really care so little about basketball that we would chant for football recruits while we should be cheering for our basketball team???
If that were true, we'd have some seriously whiny pussies on our team. I don't think our guys are like that.
