One calendar year ago we started with
-Reeling off 3 consecutive losses leading to the all but confirmed rumors of Miles getting canned. Then F King...
-Basketball becomes a national laughing stock with the #1 player in the country and doesn't make the postseason.
-Miles on the hot seat to start the fall. National media "can't believe we want to get rid of him." Run us through the outhouse once we do.
-The Florida game fiasco. I still can't figure out how the hell were the bad guy there.
O-fer against Bama. Shades of 1/9. Fanbase divided.
-Alleva's emails leaked about UF.
-The Ben simmons thing on ESPN. Really threw LSU under the bus.
-The resurrection of the Florida game. Their players and their coach running their mouths getting a ton of air time after winning a game they had no business even being in late in the 4th quarter like they just proved a point.
-Rumors LSU contacted Dana Freaking Holgerson, which really worries me that Joe was banking on O. Worries me that we're less than 7 days away from having to make a decision and possibly don't even have this thing narrowed down to a few guys.

Ugh. I'm really scared about next weekend. This is about the worst job by an athletic director I can imagine. And LSU really needs to revamp its PR Dept.

Help me Rant. Give me hope.

In my lifetime. Absolutely. This football season was beyond disappointing, and while I am not a huge basketball fan, I thought the Simmons experience would be enjoyable.... it wasn't.

1998

Football team was pre season top 10 and won 4 games
Basketball was hot garbage
Baseball was 1 win from its 3rd straight national title appearance and lost 2 straight to USC

Has there ever been a season where we lost 2 games on the very last play like we did this year with Auburn and Florida?

We didn't take the PR hit in 98. That was all on the field.

To be fair, ESPN actually reported sports at the time too I guess. And there was no social media or websites.

Perhaps this is just the new norm.

This has been a horrible year, indeed. It all points to poor leadership by Joe Alleva and F King Alexander. The athletic department is in disarray and a national laughing stock. This will start to impact recruiting very soon.

Alleva is ineffective at his job.

It's been much worse but it didn't feel like it.
The letdown hasn't been worse though. The only people doing their job well in the Athletic dept are the people running the hype. At least in the past when we sucked there wasn't any expectation of good play. Now we think we have the best back in football and can't do anything. Have the best basketball prospect and can't do anything. Are on the cusp of sealing the perfect team in baseball and can't do anything.

So good job PR department, everyone else, you're fired.

There have been plenty worse years. Look at the early 1990's. You think we have coaching problems now? Try watching Curley Hallman coach against Steve Spurrier. If you didn't like watching LSU lose to Fla. on a botched last second play, try watching them lose by 50.

Not sure what we LSU fans did to deserve that, but it really has been an awful year.

Baseball (much more important than basketball for LSU) almost won a stacked SEC and got a nation seed.

And if you get knocked out it's not as bad if the team that beats you wins it all.

No shame in Losing to the eventual National Champion. That's why baseball wasn't on the list.

Plus this is more about the "everything else" than on the field stuff. You can have bad years on the field. It's the PR hit we've taken that's beyond frustrating.
