Bama had schemed for JL very well. They had great coverage on the receivers. Even if Lee had more time and not panicked, the coverage on the interceptions was still there. Coach Miles absolutely made the right call and I am glad he didn't waste any time doing it. BAma was ready for LEE. If we couldn't run it down their throats, then Lee had NO CHANCE.

I'm glad Bama wasn't prepared to stop the option. And JJ ran the option very well , as did Ford.

We are going to need both of these qbs. IF Arky wants to bring more rushers and sacrifice pass D then either LEe will throw quick and successful or JJ will run all over em and pass when needed.

Lee was throwing against disguised man/zone combos out of a 3/4 base executed to damn near perfection. He won't face another defense like that ever again

(in game time hahaha)

Agreed. What did people expect? For him to sling it for 4 tds and 500 yards against Bama? Now that he hasn't, some people are acting like its over for him. He'll bounce back.

Neither UGA game in 2003 was a "big" game? Bama wasn't a big game? (Mauck was 24-36, 256 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT - maybe his best pure passing effort - certainly his best against a top tier opponent). Arkansas 2003 wasn't a big game?

I've seen him take plenty of hits and complete solid throws. Using this one game and his RS freshman year as a overall evaluation of his ability is rantarted. He played the second best defense in NCAA. Rewatch the rest of his games from this season and you'll see a Lee who has poise and will take a hit.

He knew he was going take a huge hit at the end of this play

Your points are dead on. And kudos to CLM for recognizing it and adjusting accordingly. He went with what worked.

All the bs about Lee suffering a blow to confidence is bullshite. He wouldn't be where he is if he had no confidence. The D he played against was insane at rushing the QB. His style simply didn't bode well for it. He got his passes off quick (other than the fumbled snap) which was vital in that game. We saw JJ hesitate to throw and either get sacked or scramble for minimal gain. WE NEED TO GET THE BALL TO REUBEN AND BECKHAM - PERIOD. Lee is the best answer for that.
If you are fine with overall Offensive production tailing way off than JJ is your man. This isn't rocket science, folks.

so whats the point of this post other than you're stupid if you dont think we needed JJ to win that game?

You have to be kidding me! After all he has endured, I would suggest this might be one of his strongest attributes. Les crapped on him last year, IMO, and he responded whenever he was called on. My guess is that he (JL) is thinking Les is about to shat on him again.

The first interception was absolutely panic stricken and abysmal... picked it up from the ground and just flung it to where he hoped the receiver would be without regard for actual defensive coverage. The second was almost as bad. I love Jarrett Lee but I'm disappointed in his progress as a quarterback. He needs to toughen up.

I agree 100%

Lee is really afraid of contact.

Are you serious?? That is the most senseless statement I have read in some time, after all the the kid has bounced back from, you think he is fragile??? I would like to see your arse getting boo'ed by 90,000 +, repeatedly your freshman year and still hang around .... much less come back and have the senior year he has had! Your way off track... he had a bad game, it happens... he will be back.. he will be fine.. I personally dont think CLM sat him so much for the Int.'s, but because we needed JJ's legs to run the option, which is all that was working for us....

Still don't know why the game plan was to have lee take 7 step drops and call 30 yard pass plays.

Coaches didn't exactly set him up for success

Should have game planned for 3 step drops/quick passes/screen passes.

Dump off passes, check downs. RB flare passes.

They didn't call any of that. And the o-line couldn't block them that we'll as far as pass blocking went. Lee had pressure coming from all sides. Saban def outcoached miles as far as that went.

We've been doing the seven step drop all year long. The difference was it was against inferior defensive lines. Not one game outside of Alabama did I not think our O-line was better than the front 7 of the opposing defense. Im almost positive for some reason Miles and the Offensive coaches thought they could block Upshaw and Hightower whenever they came for Lee.

The coaching staff either underestimated their pass rush or overestimated our pass protection. There was NO adjustment for whenever Lee was in the game to counter the pass rush. It was as if they hoped that what they were doing all year long was going to eventually work during the game.
