I absolutely KNEW this was coming. The guy changes his criteria from "first year starter" to "underclassman first-year starter" and now you're quibbling about the definition of "underclassman"??
You do realize it means "not a senior?"
My god, the lengths that people will go to deny the obvious is just shocking.

You should write Merriam-Webster and let them know:

quote:
"sophomore or freshman," 1869, American English, from under (adj.) + class (n.) in the school form sense + man (n.).

: a student in the first or second year of high school or college

Like using semantics. You knew exactly what he meant by underclassman.
You are pathetic. I'm sure you'll try to define that as "realist". Your logic is absolutely amazing. For mett, not performing in 2012 was due to the OC. That is not an excuse, that is a reason. For Harris, a sports hernia is just an excuse.

I'll re-post something I posted in another thread..
A source that watched film from the scrimmage, and even showed me some videos, said we threw the ball over 80% of the scrimmage. Some of the formations in the videos were very new to see. Brought Guice in motion from the backfield and split him out. Lined up TE's in the backfield on the side of Harris w RB behind him, similar to pistol. Lots of TE seam routes were very open. Arden Key so fast off the end

I think most people classify an "underclassman" as someone who isn't a senior.
Like when "underclassmen" declare for the NFL draft. This includes (by definition, due to the NFL eligibility rules) a player who's finished their junior year or their redshirt sophomore year. But we all refer to them as "underclassmen."
Regardless, first-year starting QBs can, and do, perform very, very well.

My dad was there and said he was impressed with both QBs, but both still missed passes they shouldn't.

Show a Harris quote that contradicts it. Him saying that he doesn't know when the injury first FIRST occurred doesn't do that. Derp
He is right. Let's move on. Harris isn't looking for any excuses for his lackluster performance down the stretch last year. He will tell you the injury did not affect him. Whether he's downplaying the significance, he only knows.
Time to focus on 2016 and move on from this.

This. Sweet mother of mercy this. A pass to a RB shouldn't be a trick play. Hell at this point any pass seems like a trick play. And can somebody please explain to me why we even recruit TEs? We might as well just line up a Tackle over there and be done with it.
It shouldn't be this complicated for a program like LSU with so many weapons all over the field. It shouldn't be so hard to complete short, high % passes. Run the ball, play action, and throw in some dink and dunk passes. Maybe a few slants or crosses or TE drags or curls or outs etc. Just get the ball in #7's hands on screens or in the flats or wheels routes or corners. Get the man in space for the love of God.

Or medical professionals or anyone with any understanding of the human body
Also, Harris said it had been nagging him for a while. that doesn't equal having zero affect

Ehh jmarc has the most 4th quarter victories from a starting QB at LSU. I'm sure Les sits at the top of those stats for head coaches at LSU.
Point is, when Lesticles shows up, he's had some epic comeback victories.

I don't think most people classify it that way. But tell me more about how meriam-webster dictionary is "changing" the definition.
Now go look up how that same dictionary classifies an upperclassmen:

A junior or senior in high school or college.
But thanks for proving my point in semantics. Since you love them so much, 2 of the players on your list were technically college seniors....

I didn't change shite.
That was the first thing I posted.
Oh, and no one is "quibbling". have a look at the definition of upperclassman.
You lost this one, pal. Just try harder next time.

Freshmen and sophomores is what I meant. And I think you and everyone else here knows that (because pretty much everyone else aside from you and oxford agrees with this definition). But it is pretty telling that you could only come up with three juniors.

Someone needs to tell the advocate that Harris isn't an upperclassman.

Don't try to reason with this dude. It won't work.

If LSU is not a contender through November this year, no Les team ever will be. He couldn't ask for a better set of circumstances.

My, oh my. Nit-picking definitions. Wow.
The point: FIRST YEAR STARTERS CAN, AND DO, PLAY VERY WELL. All of the following were FIRST YEAR STARTERS:
Tim Tebow 2007 (won Heisman) SOPH
Cam Newton 2010 (won SEC, NC, and the Heisman) RS JR, first year at Auburn
AJ McCarron 2011 (won the National Championship) RS SOPH
Johnny Manziel 2012 (won the Heisman) RS FR
Nick Marshall 2013 (won SEC) JR, first year at Auburn
Blake Simms 2014 (won the SEC) RS SR, first year under new OC
Jake Coker 2015 (won the SEC and NC) RS SR
Venturing outside the SEC in the past few years, we've seen Jameis Winston win the ACC, NC, and Heisman as a RS FR first year starter, and this past year, Deshaun Watson won the ACC and made it to the NC CG as a SOPH first year starter.
Now you go right ahead and argue all you want about how some of these guys were older, redshirted, whatever.
But the moral of this story is that FIRST YEAR STARTERS have kicked arse in the SEC over the last decade. Every rational football fans knows this. So people need to retire the "first year starter" excuse.

You just put a lot of effort into trying to shite on your supposed favorite team and it's qb. To each his own I guess.

no, just trying to rebut the excuse-makers. I hope Harris improves and plays well this coming year.
But I get so damn sick of the constant refrain of "first year starter," "he's young," our offense is "too complex to master" for anyone but a senior. A lot of other teams manage to do ok with first year starters.
So I just want the excuses to stop.
