He was good but had 0 outside shot.

He had a 12’ in shot. Didn’t need a “outside shot” because if you knew anything about basketball then, it didn’t come into college until freaking 1986 AFTER HE LEFT.
Just a bunch of dumbasses. It all counted the same except when you’re driving and get fouled hence the saying “and 1” that was made popular then.

If I recall correctly, when the team returned from the game, Jerry and Tudor got into a little skirmish in Broussard because of that cheap foul resulting in Kenny Smith's injury

Ice was a nice player, but looked like he was starving.

I liked him. He had a nice career. I remember his recruitment and him committing and being stoked. He called his outside shot the "Monster J" and we got some bad info because his outside shot was not good at all. He had a few great games and many where he just disappeared for games on end. Like I said, I liked him but he was far from being an alltime great or anything.

He is one of my favorites. All those steals...he led the SEC in them one year and I think is second all time for LSU.

He was a top 5 on ball defender.
1983
… Led the Tigers in scoring (14.2), rebounding (8.2) and steals (81) … First Tiger to lead the team in scoring and rebounding in the same season since Durand “Rudy” Macklin in 1979-80 … Second on the team in field-goal percentage (52.8) and blocked shots (18) … Led the SEC in steals and was seventh in rebounds … Came up two steals short of the school record (83) set by Ethan Martin in 1980-81

That was a solid team and Iceman showed up for primetime. Taylor was one of the best PG to play at LSU. Money from top of the key.

My first cousin came to visit me in BR he was ten years old I took him on campus to the field house Jerry Reynolds was hooping. My young cousin eyes popped out of his head. Jerry had a conversation with him for about twenty minutes my young cousin is thirty eight and he still thanks me for taking him on campus .

Reynolds was an undisciplined player who had a lousy outside shot but viewed himself as another Magic Johnson. If he had stuck to his knitting and been the garbage man and defensive specialist that he was suited for he would have been a much more effective college player.

Your name suits you. You obviously didn’t see all of his games like I did. I had season tickets and never missed any of their games. And the fact that he lead the team in scoring rebounding in assist his sophomore year means that he’s lousy? Did you it was a first round pick and play several years in the pros. He wasn’t lousy.

One of my first memories of LSU basketball was seeing him on TV one Saturday on like ABC (can't remember who we were playing?? which back then was a rarity for LSU bball to be on major network tv on a Saturday. My dad loved Ice Reynolds.
