then you're implicitly acknowledging that the offense was not the common denominator involved in the calls for his dismissal.

Well, you're just trying to make things fit your argument. If he had been 4-0 at that point, he still would have been on the hot seat. His relationship with the people who fund his position had diminished and it was in part due to his inability or lack of desire to modernize the offense.

You're not going to win the SEC ever again with a one dimensional offense.

TIL: in the LSU football program, trying to implement a more "modern" offense matters more than wins and losses

The hot seat is a lot different from being unemployed. And thank you for agreeing that the actual losses had more to do with him being fired.

Well this discussion is outside of the scope of this current conversation. Who's to say what will happen 10-20 years down the line?

No one is going to fire an undefeated coach.

However with that offense he wasn't going undefeated.

He coud've won either of those games.

Buckeye does think that they would've fired an undefeated coach. Don't you think that's an incredibly ridiculous thought?

Wow. I mean.... just wow. This could be the answer for every person you label as an O basher for every statement or question you ask on this board.

Evidently not, or he would have.

In addition to the terrible offense, game mismanagement cost him in those two games as well.

Ah yes I still remember that triple motion on the line before the first offensive play at the Dome against BYU. We went wild hahaha
Even better was when Etling threw a first down pass to a TE after coming in and replacing Brandon Harris against some no-name school.

Best coordinators. "Gonna get the ball to our playmakers in space" has been the slogan going on three years now. Let me know when it happens.

"Stop being mean to my head coach. You expect to much too soon" is the kind of stuff you post all the time. The response from now on should be...

What?

So because he didn't win, in actuality he had 0% chance to win? Does the outcome determine the probability?

If this is the type of logic you want to use, I'm ok with it, because I can have a field day with this current coach.

Why wasn’t he fired before he lost to Auburn?

If it was because he broke a promise to the boosters and Ws and Ls didn’t matter...

The offense sucked the first 3 games.

How did he survive fricking Jackson state?

I'm expecting something more like, "Of course this offense is ripping it up. We knew it all along!"

Um, what?
Are you drunk today?

The offense had 50 plays it could have scored upon to win the game, and it didn't.

When you score less than 20 points, you usually lose. In Miles last 9 games, his team scored less than 20 points 5 times.

You can throw out hypotheticals all you want, but the offense is exactly what the problem was at the end of his tenure that caused him to go into losing mode.

If, if, if....

You mean you thought it would be. There's no way to know for sure.

Eta: I had a bunch of these same conversations the last two offseasons as well with people that knew the offense was going to ball out.

You're trying to act as if I was the one that said something preposterous.

I asserted that we had a chance to win either of those games, a perfectly reasonable statement given the final scores.

You then said "Evidently not, or he would have."

You are asserting that because he didn't win, that it was not possible for him to win.

What am I missing?? How are you going to explain that asinine statement?

I was referring to all the O-Bashers who will claim they knew all along that the offense would be the strongest in years. (It will.)

Again. We have heard this during the off season in every year under Coach O and every year we've completely changed the offense at the end of the season and also fired or reassigned the WR coaches. This is why there are so many wait and see people in the fanbase.

I'll just flip the script. Had miles relented on his old school offense and developed a QB he would have been 4-0 in 2016, 100%

His offense was the problem. It was going to doom him one way or another.
