WRONG
We were trending down from dynasty mode

quote:Can you remind me who the defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator was in 2015?
O has signed 3 per year for a 3-4 scheme while Miles in 2015 didn't sign a single DT or Inside LB.
Fact is that Coach O is directly responsible for the current DLine roster. There isn't a single player on it he didn't directly recruit. Missing out on Sopsher and only having one mid ranked DL recruit for next year is a terrible look.
Eta:LSU also has no depth on the DLine. Why do you think they really only rotate 5 guys? Once again, this is a position group Coach O has been responsible for for YEARS now.

You mean the guy who was hired in late November to take over the position when Frank Wilson left? The guy who swooped in and got Arden Key at the last minute after taking over as recruiting coordinator for the home stretch
Or the guy who the following year got
Lawrence
Logan
Valentine
Alexander
Or the guy the next year who got
Shelvin
Feheiko
Farrell
Thomas
Or the guy the next year who got
Livingston
Cotton
Jenkins
Sure would have been nice if we had a single senior or fifth year senior DL on the roster (from before he got here). Looks like he has been putting in work to overcome the two empty classes that should be leaders on the DL right now

Orgeron's record at LSU is sort of a huge contradiction within itself.
1. Orgeron owns the best win in all of college football, Orgeron also owns the worse offense in the SEC and of any LSU team over the past decade.
2. Orgeron's offense ranks near the bottom of all FBS teams, LSU's strength of schedule ranks at the top of all FBS teams, despite the strength of schedule and lack of offense, LSU has only two losses, and by all accounts should have had only one loss. LSU earned the Ga. victory and gifted the Fla. loss.
3. Orgeron ensured that LSU would keep the best defensive coordinator in the country yet seems unwilling to obligate himself to acquire an offensive coordinator with somewhat similar talent.
4. Orgeron has proven he is not loyal to players who don't achieve, he recruited another kicker and QB when others with talent appeared lacking, yet remains loyal to an offensive coordinator whose achievements seem as lacking as the players he replaced.
How do you post someone like this a coaching grade, with such high marks and low marks throughout his coaching time at LSU?

Maybe you should take a step back. Reread your post and ask yourself if you're really being objective and how much bias may have contributed to it.

I read the title and thought I'd join a circle jerk, but LSU don't play that shite with coach O.
Not my team or coach, but he hasn't crashed and burned yet and could even be due some respect for not losing those games he was favored in.
Jump on him when he loses to a team he doesn't match up with. imo he's won more than I'd have thought.
PS the atmosphere was off the chart in Death Valley.
They had some good players, played well and got 5 turnovers one game, don't remember the other.

LSU while established is primed to win, but I still believe we could be a 1 loss program and actually compete for championships.
I don’t see O doing this, especially without a current elite OC.
How would O fair at those other schools that actually took over rebuilds. Might be ugly?
Miles proved an average to slightly above average coach could come to a 9 win LSU program and immediately won 11 games each of his first three season and even won 12 with a national championship in like year three??
I still feel LSU and O are making it much harder than it has to be.

How would O be doing at Colorado or UNC? It's an insanely stupid comparison to make.
it is insanely stupid top compare Colorado to Florida. The guys he was referring to are coaching at the Floridas, and Texas AM's, and Texas of the world. Those are the guys that Coach O is doing better than

We've already seen how Ed does when he has to build a program of his own.
That was 10+ years ago. Maybe he has learned something since then and would do a better job. Or maybe being at Ole Miss just sucks.

The Fla’s, the Texas’, the Aggies’, these are programs with mega salary coaches that Orgeron is doing better than, of course none of them have an Aranda either.

People that assume because a coach has more losses at an actual rebuild = comparable to the opportunity here.. are very very naive.. and not too bright.. therefore their opinions are pretty meh.
Texas went like three straight seasons without a bowl game???? Something similar.

Maybe not, but you also have to figure in the teams Texas has to play they are not on par with the teams LSU plays.

The only two on that list I’m 100% comfortable with is Mullen and Fisher.
What’s your problem with Shaw? Based on coaching success, he’d be above everyone on that list except maybe Fisher. Are you grading him on a different scale?

Ed O was hired as DL coach on Jan. 14, 2015. Less than 1 month before the 2015 signing day.
The RC for 2015 was Frank Wilson, who held the position until he accepted the UTSA HC job on Jan. 14, 2016.
On Mar. 5, 2016 Ed O was given the title of RC by Les Miles. A title he held until he was named Interim HC on on Nov. 26, 2016.

Hannagriff’s posted several times in this thread, he’s obviously got a lot riding on this.

“Hannagriff is exactly right”
Orgeron is doing better than most of his replacements, absolutely, Ed’s performing the rest, he’s doing so despite having the toughest schedule but he’s also got Aranda. None of the other coaches had to deal with a schedule like LSU’s but none of them have Aranda either.
