Red, why no announcement tomorrow one way or the other?

@schadjoe: Tyrann Mathieu's family says in statement they they are "taking the time to heal." They do not expect football announcement Wednesday.

Harry Reid says you're 100% wrong about TM7 meeting with LSU tonight and that the burden of proof is on you.

There is a LOT of moving pieces in the "stay at LSU" position:

What conditions?
Testing? Who pays? Who administers?

What constitutes a 'problem' other than a failed drug test?

Chancellor?

Etc.

They need the time to be comprehensive and clear. the WORST thing would be to elect to stay and then have LSU apply a standard that TM and his family did not expect (not that they would have been treated badly...just that it would be bad for him to give up a chance to transfer and then not have all the facts)

It is best for LSU and TM to know EXACTLY what would be necessary and expected up front, have ALL parties agree, and then decide.

Oh, I understand that and agree. The announcement that was being discussed was more of announcing what school he was going to transfer to, I guess. I like your 85/15 and think it's the right thing for everyone.

Why can't Hanagriff be the LSU go to guy instead of fricking Guilbeau?

Prolly bc Hanagriff is on the LSU pay roll. GG is a hack that just loves to use shock reporting to generate interest, but theoretically he is unbiased bc he has no paid affliation to the team.

Hanagriff is just reporting what LSU wants u to hear.

Will LSU ever be able to officialy announce anything in regards to TM7 until he is back on the team? Similar to LSU not being able to speak about recruits...

They could, but they probably won't. He will undoubtedly have a ton of hoops to jump through for the next couple of semesters and has to stay in line, plus even then the decision will have to be approved by several people...and as Hanagriff pointed out some of which may not even be with the school presently (new chancellor, etc).

We probably won't hear anything other than he is a student, and then they will appeal next Spring/Summer assuming he makes it that far.

1) I agree. I was answering another poster's question

2) This meeting may be one of several. This may get the initial stuff decided and it may take a while to become comprehensive.

I'm simply saying postponing an announcement seems reasonable at this point

Like any family that has an unexpected expense, it will take some shifting. But, they will be fine
hell they could have had a college fund for him and all of that could still be there since he didnt need it.

He is pretty much the only person besides Vincent or Miles that I trust on LSU football matters.

Ummm, I'm going to go ahead and remove Miles from this list. Les Miles has only once ever said anything in a press conference that remotely explained his position on any issue. That was the "Have great day!" speech. Other than that, nothing but Les-isms.

Sounds like this is a stipulation meeting

Hope tyrann makes the right decision that's best for him long term.

I am guessing his momma and daddy (aunt/uncle) sat him down and had a nice long talk over the weekend about what it means to be a man, and what it means to honor a commitment.

This should be no "negotiation.".....LSU says "you do XYZ, and there is no other way"

It appears to me that that has already happened.
