Les Miles 'resigns'. Eagles finish sub .500. Chip Kelly returns to college...at LSU. A guy can dream right?

Why is everyone so enamored with Chip Kelly? He has coached exactly one major college team which resulted in NCAA sanctions that have seriously damaged that program. He's a yankee from the Northeast who coached at Columbia, New Hampshire, and was the DC at Johns Hopkins, for Pete's sake. And not exactly tearing it up in the NFL.

If the occasion arises, about the only answer would be Jimbo Fisher if he'd be willing to talk. He's from the south, coached in the south, and coached at LSU. End of story.

Can't wait for when we have the new coach, I'm going to expect a title every year like every one does now and then watch the usual suspects change their tune "you have to give the new coach time!"

so you won't be as supportive of a new coach as you are CLM? are you an LSU fan or a CLM fan?

These types of contracts exist at every program worth their salt, why would LSU be any different?

A 6-year deal? I'll revise. Instead, that contract should never be given under the circumstances it was proposed. After the national championship....as shitty as that was....OKAY, understandable mostly. But after two ho-hum seasons? Just about the worst time to set him up for 6 more years as coach IMO. He had 4 years left when he signed that....

I think he'd be good, but Im not sure he'd be a slam dunk hire...but I think it'd be a really good hire.

I really want to see LSU get into the spread more. No I don't want Texas Tech or Baylor.

I think Chip Kelly would do the spread-option...which I am not SUPER fond of.

I would enjoy a mostly spread team, that could line up in PRO-SETS and run the ball.

No more I-Formation, no more fullbacks. Run what the pros run. Its not air-raid, but its not restricting the field to 15 yards across.

People want to "correct" the things they don't like about Les. CK runs an imaginative offense that isn't like watching paint dry.

quote:

He has coached exactly one major college team

And did extremely well there.

which resulted in NCAA sanctions that have seriously damaged that program.

NCAA rules concerns are legit point, but did they actually get hit with sanctions?

quote:

He's a yankee from the Northeast

so what?

quote:

who coached at Columbia, New Hampshire, and was the DC at Johns Hopkins, for Pete's sake

Lots of great coaches start at small schools, so I don't know why that matters.

quote:

And not exactly tearing it up in the NFL

completely irrelevant

He's from West Virginia

I want CLM to do well. It means LSU will do well. And expecting to win championships every year isn't the same as expecting to compete for them every year...when was the last time we competed for one?

2011.

And for the record, I'm not on here acting like things are great. I have said that it may be time for a change. I'm just hoping the timing is right.

Hanagriff said Cam's contract wasn't renewed last week. Maybe that's why we are seeing the subdued Les. Either that or he's pissed.

My understanding is this....No Cam no Felipe Franks. Felipe was counting on Cam as the OC. But, it wouldn't matter if Bill Walsh was the OC, it would still be run, run, incomplete pass, punt. No matter who the OC is. I guess the ghost of Bo Schembechler and CLM talk on a daily basis.

Everyone gave Miles a pass last year. This year again we are not meeting Miles self proclaimed goal. To me Miles should do the right thing for the University and retire because he cant seem to meet his own set goals. If not he should have one more year with it clearly understood that Atlanta in the mim.

The staff has to include coach O, C Raymond and Coach Wilson.

Les stays for an announced final year. Coach O will be named the next head coach in waiting and will take over at the end of the 2016 season.

Forget the Jimbos and Chips. This is the best scenario.
