Not offensively. Maybe some on Defense. But Tyran Mathieu bailed us out of so many games.....

Will they be easier to beat than this year? Absolutely. Can we do it? Depends on who is coaching.

They returned 3 players on offense this year and still drilled us.

It really doesn't matter anymore how many players they're losing on a given unit - they have coaching, we don't.

expectations or not. Don't think it's about winning or losing. It's about the way your going about winning or losing. Winning by not dominating opponents your more talented than and being dominated and embarrased by lesser talented teams just becasue your being outcoached says ALOT!

Just last week there were plenty on here using the proverbial phrase "just wait til next year".

I think Cam leaving is a foregone conclusion at this point. The smoke with Franks' commitment wavering is probably a byproduct of that.

Though Miles has done this plenty of times before, this will buy him another year unless they lose out in embarrassing fashion.

So we can assume Alleva is aware of a proven championship HC ready to come to LSU should they let Miles go?

This is ridiculous! Nine days ago this board was lauding Les as both great coach and man that LSU was lucky to have. There was absolute delusion that LSU was going to into Alabama and run roughshod with the "best offensive line in the country" and the runaway Heisman trophy winner en route to a national championship. Now the thought is to blow the whole thing up and start anew? Newsflash people. Miles is the same coach today as he was when LSU was 7-0. If you brought that up 9 days ago on here, you were cursed and told to quit being a negative a-hole!

I have never been the biggest Miles supporter. However, unless LSU KNOWS it has a a proven championship HC waiting in the wings, any talk of firing him at the end of the year is absolutely absurd. What is LSU going to do? Fire him and just HOPE they can land a big time coach? Texas had all the money in the world to go along with historical prestige and a ridiculously fertile recruiting base. They had to settle for a coach that was WAY down the potential hire list. Contrary to what many fans might think, big time coaches aren't just biding their time until LSU calls

What kind of OC are you going to get with Miles and the rest of the staff basically on a 1 year deal?

In past years when the pressure built on Miles after bad stretches, the players came out pretty aggressively to defend him and turned up their play.

Haven't seen that so far this year. (Although the pressure really just went up after Saturday's loss).

If the players stay silent and don't come out like gangbusters this Saturday then I think the writing is definitely on the wall.

You are thinking of 2011. In 2010 we looked good (even offensively) in our bowl game and kind of used that as a spring board into 2010. But even that season we lost to Arkansas to close out the regular season. I still would say we improved as that season went on though. That Arkansas team was good and our only losses that year were to them and Cam.

Personally I think Less himself has had enough

I've actually thought this a number of times, both last season and this one. He just doesn't seem to be his "old self." I remember a lot more animation and passion coming through in both his press conferences and his behavior on the sideline. More often than not, both his speech patterns and his body language on the sideline seem more deadpan to me than anything else.

I've always liked CLM, and like most people appreciate what a good guy he seems to be. I hate to think that the guy is just going through the motions because the gig has worn him out or doesn't hold his interest anymore. I don't pretend to know what's in his head and heart, but something sure seems askew....

Football at high levels like major college and NFL does tend to wear down coaches over time. Thinking all the way back to Dick Vermiel. And of course Urban Meyer. Miles has been here a long time and he may be burnt out.

A lot of truth in this. If they are willing to replace Miles they better check their 'feelers' closely and make sure they have a target in mind and they are ready and able to step up to the plate. And a proven commodity at that.

I can agree with this. It's just tough to get rid of major college football coaches who haven't fallen off completely. Hell, look at Richt at UGA.

Yup, and it was painfully obvious with that gameplan he rolled out Saturday night.
