Haven’t heard anything about home lately. Where did he end up? Kinda feels like he woulda gotten some PT with Gio out so much. Woulda kept Bianco at second. He was supposed to have a pretty good bat coming out of HS.
Jay could have worked with him probably.

Sounds like he's done with football and will focus on baseball
He will land somewhere

Perfect Game

For some reason people will bash him on here that have no clue what all really went down. He could've been a first rounder(MLB) out of high school but chose to come to LSU. He was the #23 overall prospect in his class. He looked good at safety as a true freshman but didn't have a great year under Pellini. No safety looked good under Pellini last year. He obviously had some issues with CPM but his raw talent in baseball is off the charts. I'd love if he somehow found his way back to LSU. Please read his Perfect Game profile and tell me you wouldn't want to see what he could do under CJJ. Kid will likely tear it up wherever he goes.

It's really hard to balance playing two collegiate sports
You can't miss all of fall workouts and practices and expect to show up in spring and be able to be a productive sec player by March
If he focuses on baseball he should be able to excel in that sport with 100% commitment to that sport and get back on draft radars
With the covid year he gets an extra year

Now that we have a new coach that is great at teaching hitting, any chance he lands back in BR?

Doubtful. The lowest slot values in round 1 were over 2 million. Teams just simply didn’t think he was worth that with the risk involved. If he turned down that much then he’s crazy.

He does have raw talent. Playing baseball less than half the year doesn’t help him develop that talent.

If he would have waited 2 more weeks instead of quitting he would have been the starting centerfielder.

CPM was honest with his position coming into the season now once the season started and Gio got hurt CPM messed up by not giving him more at bats but Hampton was the one that left the team. Both parties deserve blame doe what happened.

I would like him to return and develop under JJ. But, I can't fault Paul on this one - he didn't stand out when he was given opportunities. Should he have gotten as many meaningful reps as others? Yes, you could argue that but he was also competing for reps with guys that had been at every practice since day 1 while he was playing football - so, he was behind in more ways than 1.

I went to the same high school he did and talked to one of my old high school coaches that was with Mo on one of his unoffivcial visits his senior year of high school. He said Mo's asking price was north of 2 million to sign. He was definitely in the ballpark of a 1st round pick. I believe what he turned down was in the area of 1.8 million. With hindsight being 20/20, be probably should have signed.

He'll be a great player if he practices...he doesn't practice because of football.

Keyword there. Hasn’t had 100% commitment to anything. That’s why he didn’t play.

Are there signs that the young man realizes what he needs to do to compete?

What's sad is had he stayed he probably would have gotten an opportunity as PM usually tinkers

Haven’t said this much about any kids, but absolutely should have entered that MLB draft. Terrible tackler and not much better in the diamond

He was probably going to get a shot within a week after he left considering Sanford already had a shot and Drost was getting deeper into his struggles after starting out hot.

That’s also what I was thinking too. Later there was also an opening for a RHed DH too.

The young nan won a starting job in 2020 after coming out late. I have no reason to think anyone was against him. I think somehow he was frustrated about everything and at the time made a mistake.

A couple of weeks ago it was see what happens in the draft next month. He told some scouts he'd sign no matter where he is drafted. If that doesn't work out Ole Miss or Memphis were the two schools most interested.
