Is it only one judge scoring each event or is it like 3?

So the beam malfunctions on her and then uses that artificial intelligence self correcting technology so it is ok for the next girl and then for her to come back on to perform on the exact same bar that was never touched by the repairman…

Hmmm I need that technology for my car…

No shortage of bs here…

No they counted it. They lose if they have to use the 9.6 cause she would have had a 9.2 at the max. She needed a 9.8+ on the redo to win and got 9.825. It was bullshite cause there was no malfunction. She kicked the beam.

Gymnastics, ice skating, etc. It’s why I hate the Olympics. I prefer scoring to be objective.

Olympic gymnastics scoring is much more consistent than college. We've been watching LSU gym for years now and I love it, my kid will be in gymnastics if I ever have a girl because of it lol, but the judging is really frustrating. You just accept it and try not to complain too much. But tonight was really inconsistent.

Where can we see a video of this beam malfunction? Or did the camera coincidentally malfunction too?

’m not sure they counted the redo in the scoring anyway.

They definitely counted it. After she did her redo they dropped the 9.6. The girls first attempt would have been less than a 9.8 whic is what they needed to beat us.

Per Rabalais
quote:

That’s when the craziness truly ensued. Going in the fifth spot on beam, Kentucky’s Josie Angeny fell then landed on her knees on the dismount, appearing to push off the rubber stopper at the end of the beam as she did so. The stopper came loose, resulting in another protest from Kentucky that gave Angeny a do-over as the meet drew to a close.

quote:

“That’s not a functional part of the beam,” a disgusted Clark said afterward. “It’s cosmetic. It’s not something you dismount off of. She either hit it or it just popped out. I didn’t see it.

She had already fallen off the beam before this. So if you fall once go kick some shite off the beam for a do over.

Also KY wasn't better in any event. The judging was sub par.

Meh they all did the same routine and stuck their landings, yes.

However LSU routines were much more difficult and the dismounts were much better despite the steps.

Better if all that counts is the landing but otherwise all around LSU was better on the bars.

I still can't believe she got a do over for kicking a piece of the beam off. That's just a travesty.

Did we ever get any react quotes from our coach? I searched, but college gymnastics doesn’t get much coverage.

Officiating has been hitting the toilet in all sports. The governing bodies need to start publically releasing internal officiating scores and publically punishing those whom screw up.
