"If somebody sat me down and said you had to make a decision with where we are at right now, Alabama lost to what would be the number one team in the country and Oklahoma State lost to Iowa State," Gundy said. "If I was doing it fair, I don't know how I could put us in front of them right now."

He is focusing on the LOSS right now, but after he beats OU, he will immediately ask the voters to focus on the WINS, and he has the upper hand there. Just Sayin'

Whatever...there is no excuse for him to plant that seed in the voter's minds. Huge mistake.

This.

He'll get what, 4 hours worth of lobbying to undo a weeks worth of stupidity?

Bah. He should have just beat Iowa State.
Either way OSU is LUCKY to have had the opportunity to even lose that game, to fall from #2.

They should have lost before that, tbh.

He knows right now, he has no more of a claim than Bama. 1 loss team that's not a conference champ. Thing is, He has a chance to wrap that up this weekend. Then he cam really start promoting OSU. It would be idiotic of him to promite OSU now and then lose to OU.

The OSU game wil end at what, nearly midnight? And voters need to have their ballots in by noon the next day?

So he has 12 hours to not sleep and promote to people who are sleeping?

he knows he still needs to beat OU -- if he does lobby and gets killed by OU, he looks like a jackass; but he prob shouldn't have said Bama should go instead of Ok St -- that's just silly

Problem is, his reasoning was that Bama's loss was a better loss than the OSU loss. If they beat OK, they still have the same loss, as does Bama.

He messed up, simple as that. He could have easily said that he would not comment on BCS because need to focus on OK.

I think he doesn't want any part of LSU. He'd rather play Stanford in the Fiesta or whatever bowl they were both projected in.

Think he should have stuck with

That has a better chance of working

Gundy is doing his job, focusing on the next game. Lobbying means nothing if they can't get past OU and that's their #1 priority right now. After they get over that hurdle, the lobbying will start from all directions.
The country doesn't want to see a rematch, the majority said the first time was a boring game. If OSU takes care of business, the lobbying will come from all different directions and there will be little work for Gundy to do.
No reason for Gundy to be all in the media focusing on that when there's still more football to be played to even be in consideration for the championship game.

They lost to Iowa State for God's sake, that will be his downfall.

lol I love this line of thinking...

Cause he can't spare 5 minutes to say something positive about their chances? That's ridiculous.

He's making a big mistake. OSU may never be this close to a NC again. He should be pounding their wins and anti-rematch sentiment. I'd be upset if I was an OSU fan, but w/e.

If they beat ok, they still will have the loss as does bama, but they would have a conference championship, and the last time i checked BAMA has no chance at a conference championship!! Me personally i want to phuck the elephant again!!! not scared here!!!

They will literally have no time to lobby. Vote is the next morning, games ends at midnight or so.

I understand he didn't have to lobby because of upcoming game, but what he said about their loss was a dagger.

Gundy screwed up. Really stupid way to handle this situation. Granted he is being honest but he is messing his own team over. Really curious way to manage the situation.

This is the only thing that can explain what he has done.
