Fail. UNC and Bama he played well. I'm putting it on the Crowton clusterfrick. Kragthorpe will utilize his skills.

I feel like we have done a bad job using shep, and he has done a bad job developing. Which is more, I'm not sure. Our pitiful qb play never allowed any passing rhythm in most games, and we had a very sporadic and minimal deep threat most of last year.

Shep needed those deep routes to be successful to open up the underneath routes fr space to work with. He didn't catch the ball well, and throwing deep balls to him was always a wasted play. At the same time, rarely did we have our top receivers have stellar games. Jefferson's accuracy put them in bad positions a fair amount of the time, and shep's best ability to shine is after the catch.

He needs size, better hands, more consistent QB play, and better offensive gameplanning. I'm hoping Krags will help out the whole offense. I don't want to say he isn't a good player just yet. But if he has a repeat of last year, then we will all know he was overhyped. I like him though.

Glenn Guilbeau: It's time for everyone to get over Russell Shepard. He's just not that good of a player. He's undersized.

It's time for Glenn to get over himself. He's just not that good of a journalist.

I did not do that moron a favor by clicking on the link.

This fricker has nothing positive to say about LSU. This has been the best period of LSU football in its history and he still finds things to be negative about. He's doing this because people post his shite articles on websites. Has Shepard been under performing? Yes. Is it really necessary to say he isn't that good of a player?
What a douchebag.

Negative. Last year Shep was listed at 6'1 197. Nothing wrong with that, especially for a soph.

It's time for everyone to get over Glenn Guilbeau. He's just not that good of a journalist. He's underintelligent. He types fast, but Gannett has lots of fast typers. If it's that hard to make somebody write a balanced, insightful column, maybe that writer's just not that good.

again, he picked LSU to win the national championship. if you clicked the link, you would know that. some of you get too emotional when someone gives a negative opinion about LSU.

Has Shepard under performed or had Crowton just not utalized him correctly. Shepard is fast but has great open field moves that can score. Krag needs to use him like the Saints use Bush; use short pass plays to get him some space.

Been a critic of GG regardless of his bottom line. Even a blind squirrel and all that.

Shep has underperformed while at LSU, no one can deny that fact. The key though is the coaching staff hasn't helped him in any way either. The kid was told he'd have a legitimate chance at playing QB. Not even halfway through his freshman year he was moved to WR. Yeah yeah "He asked to be moved". After not getting a single snap in a game LSU scored 3 points with JJ. It was obvious he felt Les would stick with JJ no matter what, hence the comment, "I hope I didn't just make the biggest mistake of my life". He still has 2 years at LSU, no one really thinks he'll leave after this year do you? I think he'll emerge as a legit threat before leaving and end up as a 3rd-4th round pick.

Trindon Holliday got less effective every year he played at LSU (the last 3 under Crowton). Seemed like teams figured out what we would do with him and then that was it.

Shep seems to be going down the same road.

I'm hoping it was the OC and with a new OC we can use Shep in new ways that actually catch the other team by suprise.

Agreed. I think he's played like a Freshman and Sophomore generally plays in college. He still has 2 years left to catch on and FINALLY some competence at the QB position (hopefully) and competence at the OC spot (hopefully)

The only reason that he's being seen as a bust is his ranking coming out of high school. If he were at low 4 star guy, he'd be right on course for a guy learning a brand new position 2 years in.

When used correctly he was very good. But the coaching staff quit using his potential because it hurt Jeffersons feelings to have someone with talent stand behind center.

Please tell me that every thing else you say isn't this stupid.

Even though it probably is, lie to me and tell me it isn't.

If you don't think that Matt Flynn is a better than average quarterback then I don't know what to say. Let's name all of the other quarterbacks around the nation in 07 and where they are now. Tell me he wasn't a top-20 quarterback that year.

I don't care what they did after they left lsu. Everyone keeps bringing that up. He was AVERAGE WHEN HE WAS AT LSU

Guilbeau has never worn or sniffed a jock strap in his life. The only thing he is qualified to write about is gay porn.

RS was a sophomore. You can say he has been not that great of a player to date. That's fair. I would say the same thing about our very average receiving corps last year. This includes a very average playing Toliver. With Kragthorpe here at least give RS 2 years to prove his worth. He may make you change your mind.

He needs to have a big year. I do believe it's now finally his time to make his plays. You don't just change positions and start in the SEC making plays.

QB/RB/WR alis 1st year....that's to much and it was a wasted year.

Last year at WR: for as bad as we were throwing the football 33 receptions for 254 is that bad. Get the guy some bubbles and screens please.
