I was just reading an article by Glen Guillbeau on LSU Beat about the Jones Brothers (Chad & Alem). The article is talking about how different & alike the two brothers are. He goes on to describe Alem using these words:
quote:

with his sharply shaved head, clenched mouth and rigid posture, seems as militant as Malcolm X, and being a 6-foot-3, 254-pound chiseled rock, he is not to be messed with by any means
He then describes Chad by saying:
quote:

with his matted hair and relaxed recline in a more flexible 6-3, 222 frame, is reminiscent of Bob Marley or a Jamaican tour guide offering Red Stripes or things less legal.

WHY in the world would a reporter use phrases like
quote:

seems as militant as Malcolm X
quote:

and tour guide offering Red Stripes or things less legal
when talking about 2 college athletes?

It just doesn't make sense. Out of the entire article, the 2 things that stick out are his comparisions of two great kids as being militant & looking like they would be offering things less legal than beer. Why would this jerk off feel it necessary to bring up those sort of comparisions instead of focusing on the things they DO opposed to the things they LOOK LIKE they do? Guilbeau must have skipped his journalistic integrity lectures while in school. Maybe he dabbles a little too much in the "things less legal than beer". What a joke of a journalist, way to throw doubt & dirt at a kid Guilbeau, you jackass!

Wow.

Is this guy actually a paid professional?

I've heard better drivel than that on this board.

Pathetic.

Guilbeau is trying to get acosted by someone affiliated with the team or program so he can sue.

He's a poor man's paparazzi.

Um, I have seen Rahim Alem and get the same vibe as GG described. Matter of fact, I bet Rahim would probably agree with that. That is one intense-looking dude.

Um, how can you tell someone is militant just by seeing him?

I would agree that he looks mean--but then so do a million other football players, hockey players, lawyers, teachers, dentists, etc.

It's called racial profiling and it is practiced everyday by bad cops and fox news. Innocent men spend their lives in prison because of it and Presidents are labled as socialist, marxist, communist and facist by the morons who hate them. You are very right...Guilbeau is an idiot.

you should have seen the piece of shite article he contributed to the Bham News football preview. They published a review from a beat writer for every team, and GG provided a Miles/Coker comparison article.

Wow that is off the wall he said that sort of stuff. It's pretty silly if he needs to use this stuff in his writing to get a "reaction."

You write to inspire people to read.

Here are some interesting comments in the article by/about Chad and Rahim:

quote:

Jones is the only player who can call Rahim by Alfred and get away with it.

quote:

“We try to respect what he did and call him Rahim, but I can’t help it,” Jones said. “I call him Alfred all the time. Only time I call him Rahim is if he knows I’m clowning around with him.”

quote:

“Oh, they fought a lot,” dad said. “I was always breaking them up. They wrestled all the time. Chad was the sneaky one. He’d walk up and smack Al, and Al would say, ‘What’d you do that for?’ And Chad would say, ‘Two weeks ago you did this to me.’”

quote:

Alem seemed to disagree that the fisticuffs have ceased.

quote:

“Shoot, it ain’t stopped,” he said, then broke out a grin as wide as his little brother’s when he realized he had fooled his audience. “No, the last real fight-fight was when he was 15 and I was 16. We don’t do that any more. I used to restrain him. I’d just grab him from behind and hold him until he stopped.”

quote:

“I only beat him one time really,” Jones said. “A few times, I just hit and run. I can’t really claim those as victories. Other than that, he’d get me all the time.”

Can't imagine growing up with a brother like Alem beating on me all the time.....

that guy is just a plain goober, I watched him talk to Juan Kincaid I think his name is last nite on 4th down on 4, I go to Channel 4 news on my computer to download it, anyways he told Kincaid something to the effect of LSU just doesn't have the horses this year to contend for any title, SEC or NC, maybe next year, what a fool.

Does anyone know if Rahim Alem is a member of the Nation of Islam as was Malcolm X?

Too bad Malcolm X was assassinated by members of the Nation of Islam who were loyal to Elijah Muhammad.
