lawsuit? Kelly is not responsible for the medical care of GB. His illness has nothing to do with football. One could argue that GB is lucky he was part of LSU football team which led to possibly discovering the cancer sooner than it would have otherwise. Also, I understand that LSU paid medical bills to some degree. Why is LSU responsible for this in this situation? Sure Kelly as Coach should have kept in contact with occasional visits from an ethical standpoint ( i guess) but there is no legal obligation to do so. A medical malpractice suit is another thing entirely.

Wasn't he at Arkansa before he transferred to LSU? So Arkansas is as responsible for his tumor as LSU is. This fraudulent lawsuits need to end in this country.

no university is responsible for his cancer. Only his medical providers were responsible for his medical care along with the patient and his family.

Yes I would but I’d be reaching out to the alumni and boosters to create a donation bank for Greg. Promoting it with NIL running rampant atm would be easy

The safe bet and easiest thing to do was for Kelly to say “can’t comment due to the litigation.” The fact that he said something after legal told him he will likely be deposed, leads me to believe him.

They just need to be done with this and settle quickly. Would be best for all parties involved to move forward and no airing of dirty laundry. Will just continue to become a messier distraction.

Why? That's what this attorney is hoping for. Let him prove his case to the court.

damn. bad look for kelly.

He would be a real shitty lawyer if he didn’t refute Kelly and LSUs claim. He’s getting paid on a settlement, I doubt they are paying by the hour

Would Ed O, Saban, or Les have checked on Brooks? Most likely they would've. If BK checked on Brooks it's easy to prove so.

This isn't Massachusetts or Indiana. It's the deep south. And, in the deep south a head football coach is a part politician/part coach. When a player comes down with an illness like this it's part of the job to check on the player and his family. If the head coach doesn't check on the player, that head coach will suffer the consequences.

BK has a team to coach, and with massive roster turnover and the need to retain your roster, there’s only so many hours in a day to give to a transfer portal kid who’s battling cancer. At some point BK had to turn his full attention to his team and let gregs family tend to Greg. This comes off very much disingenuous from the brooks family and ultimately it will become obvious they just want $$ and a NDA to go away.

Pure BS. Part of the job is maintaining positive public relations. If BK can't do that part of his job he won't get the benefit of doubt if this next season isn't a success (at least a playoff berth).

what are they settling for

Sometimes lawsuits are settled because a settlement is less expensive than attorneys fees combined with expert witnesses, exhibits, court costs, travel expenses, etc.

I have a question for the tRant Lawyers. If a person retains an attorney who contacts an entity(like LSU) and lets them know they will likely be suing, how would an attorney advise that entity. Would they advise any persons who may be involved in the suit to cease communication with the future plaintiff? Even if no court filings had occurred?

Just curious

At the end of the day the Brooks family will get some monetary compensation, but the manner in which the family and attorney went about this will leave a stain on their name in the state of Louisiana that won’t be scrubbed away.

It’s really a shame how this all turned out.

I think GBJr's family wanted a pediatric surgeon in spite of his age because medulloblastoma is more common in younger children.

They were correlating age of most patients with wanting a doctor that had operated on kids with that type of cancer.
