So he called him out by saying he thinks he's the best player in college ball? I remember the benching. And how PM would talk about how he's fighting through it and busting arse being the first out of the dugout between innings. He never called him out.

If you can't handle the heat, get the frick out the kitchen. Seems appropriate

PM said all those things for a few weeks; then he benched him and called him out. The fact that you refuse to acknowledge it doesn't make it any less true.

That little fuker will continue to punish these kids as he sees fit. I guess he figures he's earned the right .......

I have heard many times that PM rides players, and we all know how he tosses them under teh bus. He's a tough a-hole of a guy as well apparently. That translates well to some kids and not to others. Personally I think unless you have a bunch of super talented kids on the team, PM is going to have trouble getting this team titles. Look at the team taht won it in 09. Some serious talent + old bats + old Blatt. Dean, Schimpf, Mahtook, Mitchell, Gibbs, were all high end picks. Let's not forget Coleman, Ranaudo and Ott. I think PM loves those tireless workers like Bregman, but those guys are few and far between.

Of all the things Paul has said about his players, this is far from bad. Clearly him and Paul just didn't get along. End of story. Paul is still a damn good coach with a tough personality to some.
How many successful coaches out there have this same type of personality?
Exactly. Good luck, Byrd. Wish it were a different outcome.

I am confused by this thread.
The Rant loves yelling, screaming, in the player's face, hot tempered, throwing the team under the bus (allegedly) Neck Saban but hates Maineri (allegedly) doing the same thing.
Pourquoi?

Skip Bertman says baseball is not like football

Louis Coleman believed that PM was not giving him a fair shot at one point. He was angry and disappointed and he had a heart to heart with PM. CPM, as is his way, didn't sugarcoat his answer. They came to an agreement and both lived up to it. That's the way it should be done. I don't think PM is perfect at all, but I have a true appreciation for what the job entails.

What does this mean?
Did Skip never chew a player out? I understand that his language could get pretty colorful at times.

Yes he won a CWS with as much talent that you can possibly have at the college level.
um if you think lsu has the most talent in college baseball, you haven't been paying attention
If you don't think the 2009 team was the most talented college team by far that year, you are crazy. Go look at the success those players are having at the next level.

When I first heard this my first thought was maybe daddy Paul was trying to interfere too much. But in the interviews I remember him giving, he just never came off as that kind of person...who knows. I'm just disappointed that it didn't work out for Grayson. I wish him well.

Tell me more about what happened when you were in the dugout.
Ok I get it.
Except when the Rant bitches because a coach doesn't tell them anything or sugar coats every thing. Right?
