Again, D- (generous) for lack of improvement from last season, inconsistent play this season, for regression from promising at the start to just hanging on as this season progressed, for lack of any visible in-gametime coaching, for the times the team looked clueless, and for no evidence of real player and leadership development.

The main reason it's not "F" is because LSU beat UK once at home and played them to the wire at Rupp.

F Major disappointment. You cannot coach shooting but the defense was horrible and rebounding pitiful....this is coaching.
I am beginning to think we made a mistake.

But since Brown and Shaq are behind him, he has at least another two years or longer.

Personally, I have seen enough and wish LSU would go after Bruce Pearl.

Gonna be interesting to hear Brown run his mouth giving excuses for Johnny...from the man who preaches to his players that there were no excuses...just victory.

JJ looked like he gave up mid way through the season and so did his team. Losing is one thing but lack of effort in inexcusable.

I give him a B- . Hell, a few things go their way, it's easily a 23-24 win season. 19 isn't bad for a team lacking position talent.

How the hell is losing at Kentucky in OT a horrendous loss? Last time I checked, they have the talent to match up with anyone when they play well. And are one of the toughest teams in the NCAA to beat at home.

F.

2nd and 3rd place in the SEC would have been extremely easy to grab this year with any type of consistent play.

With what LSU had returning and with the incoming recruiting class, there is no excuse for for this season.

were you the one in the game thread yesterday saying that there was no need to call a timeout during ky's run in the first half?

D. I think they had the talent on the roster to compete at a high level in the SEC and just didn't get it together. Disappointing.

I don't understand why people keep saying no one improved. How many people actually watched every game?

I have never posted in a game thread. Why would I want to punish myself by keeping up with a game thread?

I gave JJ an overall C for the year. B- in recruiting because of his failure to land difference makers at guard.

This.

People's expectations for this team this year was way too high. The players have more to do with this season's record than given credit for. Besides JOB, our two best players are two true freshman who aren't one and done types.

JOB is still a work in progress. He has slow feet and slow reactions on defense. Way too many reach fouls. LSU was not going to win many games with him on the bench in foul trouble half the time and that's exactly what happened.

He definitely needs to stay another year. His offense is undeniably good, but his defense sucks.

As for stopping the guard penetration, you need to have the players to do so. Our guards were outmatched for most of the season against teams with better, stronger guards.

If the big guys return for next year along with Simmons, next year could be special. We were not ready to go anywhere this year. In fact, we may have over achieved.

D- too much talent not to make the NCAA. I thought Jones was a bad hire because he didn't do anything exceptional when he was at N. Texas. When LSU pursued Jones, was any other school interested in him....No.

I agree with the people that gave the grade of D. I totally expected to be in the position that Georgia is in. With this team IMO it UNDERACHEIVED. Georgia overacheived because of COACHING. LSU did the opposite.

I don't think making the NCAA's was way too high, but crapping on the team and staff because they didn't does show how far out of touch with reality some LSU fans have become. We were picked 4th in the SEC and finished sixth and one game out of fifth. That's not terrible underachieving as some are saying.

Exactly right! Our guards had their moments, but overall their play was mediocre and you are going to struggle if you have mediocre guard play in college basketball.

Yeah, players fck up sometimes too.

But, it might have been a good thing to have have OBJ on the court this year.

i say B-... to me an A is making the tournament and we aren't exactly a basketball state. we still had a winning record and a probable NIT berth, along with having the core of a good team coming back next year

that being said, what he's done would be a D to D- for Miles and Maineri. Jones gets a curve because we don't expect a national powerhouse basketball program
