yea that was mind numbing. we basically had 3 offensive guys on the court but we got lucky because tq had his best night on offense.

I did think his move of putting andre on the bench to come off and give us points from the bench was a good move.

I think it really hurt us that both Odo and Malone were completely worthless in conference play. we didn't have a big to come off the bench for us and actually contribute. Then with TQ being bad and morgan getting hurt it took away our best move which would have been being able to use martin at 4 a bunch that way mickey and job could get breaks.

Some of that falls on the players themselves and some falls on Jones for not having them ready and not finding spots where they could contribute.

The LSU nation needs to keep the faith. I know most of y'all are disappointed but give JJ a little leeway since this is his first season. The UNT board used to question Johnny's X's and O's coaching ability but in the end the UNT nation was more than satisfied with JJ results. JJ has a knack for recruiting talent and once he does you'll see he's a better X's and O's coach than you originally thought. I've seen JJ take his share of "T's" for his team and players so maybe he wanted to get used to SEC ref's before going toe to toe with league ref's.

JJ will be coaching LSU in the SEC for a long time. JJ may have had to focus on recruiting restoration at the expense of coaching I don't know. Now that JJ has address recruiting issues he'll have a true off season to coach current roster and new recruits prior to next BB season. One thing Johnny will do is recruit quality players that can shoot and make FT's. The year JJ left UNT our team FT percentage was around or above 80 percent.

Given time JJ will elevate LSU's basketball program and far exceed most of LSU Alumni's expectations of him as a coach!!!

LSU has a bright future with JJ at the helm. Hope y'all get into the NIT.

this is Jones second season here. Also its not like he isn't familiar with the league since he played and coached in it as an assistant. Now it was years ago but still its not like he is brand new to the sec. I do agree he can recruit and I like him off the court. Sometimes a coach has a bad year and they just never get it going so maybe that happened to him. It is why I don't think he should be on the hot seat plus it is too soon for that. It does raise some concern but I feel like we will be better.

*not one player outside of Martin improved this year.

*plus the subbing of players were good the first 4 or 5 games then went jacked. the backside of the bench was doing well then Never got a shot the rest of the year.

Amazed that LSU will likely not even make the NIT...Johnny has to be embarassed with his performance this year. He has put a lot of doubt in LSU bball fans (or more specifically this fan) that he is the person to get LSU back to a top 20 program.
my sentiments exactly. Jones will not get it done at LSU. Heck he really didn't even get it done at unt, so I'm not really surprised. He was a disappointing hire but when he started recruiting lights out and showing lots of energy I thought I was wrong but as it turns out he has even less X's and O's ability than his mentor daddy dale,

The results speak for themselves. No sign of progress.

JJ has kept us afloat/relevant while continuing to recruit well.

The results on the floor were disappointing this year at times, for sure. But I think next year with Simmons coming in, you are going to see a 12-6 SEC team.

D+, and I think that's being generous. Talent and experience to make the NCAAT easily in a weak conference and we got embarrassed a handful of times by weak teams.

Losses to Rhode Island, Georgia, Ole Miss, A&M and Bama never should have happened. That's 6 losses right there too.

To really make things worse, we got worse as the year went along, sans a couple "oh we decided to play today" games.

C-wins against Ole miss, texas a&m, Rhode Island, Alabama gets him in big dance. Lsu was better than those teams no excuse in losing those games. If Mickey and Martin come back they should be a tournament team but will see.

Lsu fans overreact to everything. Last year we hit a few buzzer beaters and this year we missed a few. You probably have a 4 game swing on that alone. Once our players learn how to play defense, we will be a force in the sec. This year it was pretty obvious that some of our guys had never played defense in their life.

C is a fair grade this year. The results were not where we wanted them, but for a good portion of this year people were actually getting interested in Lsu bball,

We need legitimate guards before passing judgement. Jones was brought here, because he seems to have the ability to get players. Time will tell if he has the coaching ability to develop talent. Personally, I would like to see him hire a top notch assistant.

Everybody who keeps saying shite about how good our talent is...based on what!?!?

JOB MAY be drafted at the end of the 2nd round in the draft.

Mickey and Martin both show upside, but both are extremely raw at times and will continue to grow.

With that said, we were carried by our frontcourt and our guards were pretty terrible. There's a lot more to being a guard than just hitting 3's. We have the smallest backcourt in the country...wrap your head around that for a second. Love Stringer and his heart, but I'm extremely happy we won't have a 5'9 shooting guard anymore. Hickey shows great ability at times then just gets lazy and shows no desire to penetrate.

With those small guards, other team's guards absolutely destroyed us. It's not a coincidence people drain 3's on us while our guards are sub 6-foot.

I give CJJ a C+ simply because we didn't go to the postseason, but we were basically 6-7 deep at the end of the season after Malik got hurt. Next year if we go 9-9 again, then I'll have some issues. But I personally blame the players more than the coach at this point.

I would grade it a C. Right at average. I thought the team would at least be able to make some sort of postseason this year. The NCAA tourney was certainly a realistic option at one point in the season.

Poor play on the road, as well as losses to teams they probably should've beaten, crushed that dream. Interested to see where they go from here.
