Good read regarding Rosenthal on OL

SIAP, but this is a good read from back in July regarding Rosenthal and mentions OL potential.
LINK
“Emerging on the scene as a rising sophomore, Rosenthal immediately became a national recruit with hype that he could be a potential No. 1 overall recruit in the country as a senior. That spring, he verbally pledged to Alabama, much to the dismay of the LSU faithful. An LSU offer poured in a month later and off to the races went Rosenthal’s recruitment, on the fast track to five-star fame. A year later, FSU offered and Baylor next.”
“By the Spring of his Senior season, he stacked up a list of offers that would rival anyone in the country. Auburn, Michigan, Florida, Georgia, Oregon, Miami and Ohio State. Rosenthal sported all the earmarkers of a true difference making recruit.”
“Rosenthal has thus far insisted on playing defense, but just as I felt Chasen Hines may be a better fit on the offensive line, so too do I see Rosenthal as LSU’s future left tackle. At 6-7, 320 pounds, he could be a dominant defensive end or nose tackle in an odd front. He’s more explosive than you suspect most guys that size, so he may give you pass rush too. But I can’t help but look at this kid and think, “That’s Orlando Pace.” I recognize it’s completely absurd to suggest Rosenthal in the same sentence as one of the greatest left tackles in football history, but the potential. is. all. there. He’s long and lean, not carrying a ton of bad weight. He’s naturally strong and immensely athletic. He’s aggressive and physical.”

Agree. Needs to be an OT. Think he can have a very long and successful career at that position.

The kids growing up and realizing where the money's at. I guess it isn't "cool" to be an offensive lineman but when you're a millionaire it doesn't matter. If he commits to being a tackle I think he could be one of our best in a loooong time.

Does he play OL this Saturday?

Reminds me a little of Joe Barksdale.
Came in as a D lineman and the coaches had to convince him to move to the OL.
Turned into a pretty solid nfl o lineman.

Has anyone ever seen him play?

Rosenthal made the absolute smartest decision of his life.

He's built like a prototypical NFL OT.

I said this months ago. Dude could start RT right now! This guy is a behemoth of a human.

Truly wish they would have looked at him at tackle as soon as he hit campus.

Too late for him to contribute anything this year isn’t it?

No, the more reps the better and we may possibly would have already found our rt.

Yeh.
Big and dominant at the 2A level. He’s just massive with solid athleticism for a guy that size.
I’ve seen him and Raekwon Davis in person at the high school level. Same height, Dare weighed a little more. Raekwon more twitchy as an athlete (crazy quick for a guy that size).
Dare is super strong tho. When he gets his hands on you, you aren’t going anywhere.
Remember, he’s from Ferriday. Not exactly the best equipment/facilities to work with. College weight room and diet is going to do wonders for this dude.

Yeah but being from Concordia Parish makes up for it. God's country.

Athletic wisdom says maybe not- dude can move for his size, in a way... that would be an upgrade for us, just getting into position and getting in the way. Don't forget- it's not like he's never played the position.
But Mr Wise Guy is right- he's never played against this level, except for practice. I saw him vs. Rayville. I've been drooling over him as an OT ever since. Dare shined in that game mainly as DT though. Several sacks.
I dunno, if he can pick up the calls and protection schemes... maybe. Does O and Cregg see us as that desperate AND are Deculus/Traore doing THAT bad of a job? I think the answer is no.
But if I'm Cregg, and he gets the calls down... he's getting reps. If I'm Cregg, and it's at all feasible, I want to see what he can do.
Don't forget, Charles moved to OT with one week of practice (he had other spot practice reps there earlier). BUT, injuries absolutely forced that (shouldn't have).
ETA: LOVE the Barksdale comparison... just bigger. Joe could be real mean when he got going, borderline rage. Rosenthal, on the field, is just one mean sumbitch all the time. If he was a 175 lb DB he'd knock himself out all the time because he wants to hurt you, even though he can't. Well, he's not a 175 lbs... still wants to maul you.
