2013 and SEC records say hi

we finished 7th in TOTAL OFFENSE out of 14 teams in the SEC with NFL talent all over the offense. It is absouletly the worst system that I have ever seen. Cam needs to go for the sake of this program at whatever cost. Even if that means getting rid of MIles. Cam is a huge anchor dragging this team to the bottom

All that to only prove you have no idea what you're talking about. 2013 and SEC records say hi

I wasn't talking about the scheme, dumbass. I was talking about the product on the field. My feelings on the scheme are all over this board. Maybe if you spent less time trying to be glib you could add more to the discussion.

Miles has dreams of Rick Leach every night.

Coach Miles is very thorough. He knows what he’s looking for

Yeah, and his formulation is consistent and extremely wrong. He knows exactly the wrong thing thing to match his outdated offensive philosophy and exactly how to select the exact wrong QB to match his outdated system. Pure fool.

Prescott wanted to play quarterback for LSU, we said no QB

Wrong. Get your facts straight.

Both storylines are correct, depending on the timing. LSU recruited Dak as an ATH leading up to his senior year, MS State as a QB. State was his best offer as a QB, because they couldn't do any better. During his senior year, Dak showed a lot of improvement as a passer, and LSU turned up the heat on him as a QB. Dak decided to stick with State because he wanted to be the next Tebow under Mullen. It's debatable whether offering him at QB earlier would have ever mattered for LSU, given Mullen's pitch.

Assuming the timing of his offer at QB did matter, the article doesn't mention another important point about QB recruiting that Dak is a good example of. It's unlike any other position in that it starts younger, and is usually done long before the kid's senior year. ALL of them show at least some prima donna qualities, and have to be fawned over basically from their freshman year. Also, if you want a good one, you have to pick your horse and tell him he's your guy from then on. That's why Cam's impact is only starting to be seen now, and for the 16' class. Add those wrinkles to a state where the best athlete plays QB and the best QB quits to go break 90 on the radar gun on the mound, and it's not hard to understand why LSU has struggled to turn out QBs.

The "youth" crap is a cop out. RS Freshmen and Sophomores are leading FBS teams all over the country. We don't need Heisman performances to win games.

From the article:

quote:

Nine teams in The Associated Press’ top 10 this week have starting quarterbacks in their third, fourth or fifth years of major college football. Ohio State is the exception, with a starting QB in his second year after senior Braxton Miller was lost for the season in August with a shoulder injury.

Obviously it's not the rule, but it's not a big exception either.

Jared Goff true freshman
Jameis Winston redshirt
Anu Solomon redshirt freshman
Rakeem Cato was a true freshman
Aaron Murray was a redshirt freshman
Johnny Manziel redshirt freshman
Brett Hundley redshirt freshman
Marcus Mariota redshirt freshman
JT Barrett redshirt freshman
Braxton Miller true freshman
Brad Kaaya true freshman
Deshaun Watson true freshman
Andrew Luck redshirt freshman
RG3 true freshman
Teddy Bridgewater true freshman
Sefo Leifau true freshman
Christian Hackenberg true freshman
Brett Smith true freshman
Nathan Scheelhasse redshirt freshman
John O'Korn true freshman
Taysom Hill sophomore
James Franklin sophomore
Connor Shaw sophomore

Just over the past 5-6 years. These are the more notable guys, but there are also others that I don't feel like writing down. Also, I only listed first year or second year students.

This is simply a terrible post. A lot of those guys weren't that great as true freshmen, most played in weak conferences, and a few of them are rare Heisman winners.

Even fewer played on great teams.

Yes, Ohio St is the only one in the top 10, but the point is if we had a mediocre offense, we could very easily be in the top 10 as well. We aren't looking for Manziel or Winston type QB play from our young guys. Just a competent passing game to complement the rushing attack and rejuvenated defense since the Auburn game.

Thanks for posting that article.

Compare LSU to Georgia. Richt isn't the best HC in the world but, his QB recruitment and development is impressive.

Maybe Miles just overthinks this shite. At the end if the day a QB either produces or doesn't. Both recruiting and assigning playing time seem to be over analyzed.

If you are gonna score zero, does any if the rest matter

So what you're saying is recruiting malachi dupre's and Leonard fournette's of the world is pointless if we don't have a Qb in his 3rd,4th, or 5th year? Damn. What a waste of our recruiting resources. Guess we went 13-0 in 2011 because of our senior qb's. Not because of our defense. Then might as well recruit jucos exclusively. But I wonder why other successful programs don't do this. Les is a genius.
