Good personal story about Coach O

My uncle is the coach of our local high school football team and told this story to us last night. The day before the Miami game, my uncle gets a phone call from a Baton Rouge number. “Hey coach, this is ‘So and So’ from the LSU athletic department. We just wanted to call and wish you guys good luck today against (the team we were playing that night). Also, here’s Coach Orgeron.” Coach O comes on and calls my uncle by name: “Hey Coach, this is Coach O. Just wanted to wish you guys good luck.” They shoot the shite a little while about our game and the Miami game. He says the boys are ready to whip some Hurricane arse. Finishes with a “Take care and Geaux Tigas” and that’s it.
Just thought it was really cool, and I imagine they did that to most if not all the high school coaches as a recruiting tactic. Our little school has no kids that will play college ball, but thought it was a nice gesture and a cool story.

I didn’t bash him but I joined the herd in severely doubting his abilities. I think a lot of us owe him an apology. He has this team as well coached as anyone could have them to this point. I get it, cautious optimism, and I agree, but the two keys to our team’s success (QB and kicker) are because of HIM.

I would say there’s a good possibility. I imagine he has a list of schools in alphabetical order that he does each week. That was week 1 so he might’ve called all A-B schools. Then called schools starting with C-D on week 2 and so on.

Probably, there's nothing wrong with wishing both teams good luck. I doubt coach O cares who wins a high school football game. It's the gesture.

Just another reason that Coach O is one of the top coaches in college football. This guy is perfect for our school and our state. From the way he talks, to the gameface that he puts on, he's going to be a legend that we get to tell our grandkids about.

I met Coach O once. I introduced myself. He stuck his hand out and said " hey dere Baw". Ed is cool in my book.

Also need to give credit to his job with the O-line. The amount of injuries there would severely cripple most teams but somehow they've managed to hold their own. I'm still not 100% convinced about O in the long term but I gotta give the man credit when he's earned it.

Coach O coached under Jimmy Johnson and Pat Carroll, along with an NFL stop and numerous directional schools. Somewhere something rubbed off. He has bee an excellent recruiter throughout, a major part of college sports. You need the horses to run the race.
