The return-to-play success rate for patellar tendon tears in the NFL is approximately 55%,
quote:
Recent orthopedic studies on extensor mechanism ruptures in professional football show that roughly 45% of players who suffer a complete patellar tendon tear never return to play in an NFL game. For those who do make it back, many experience a noticeable drop in athletic performance or shortened career spans compared to pre-injury levels.

Hallelujah. That poor kid looked absolutely dejected with his head down, sobbing off the field.
Good news for him.

Great news! How does someone rehab this? Is it a lot of Tens machines and things like that?

Great news. What do we do for tight ends in the meantime?

If he's back after the bye week, that's 7 weeks to recover before the brutal November stretch of Bama/UT/TN/Ark

If it’s a tendon or ligament sprain. Early progressive loading to illicit
remodeling and ability to handle stress and tension. Not fun but effective and way better than surgery.
