He’s the biggest team player in LSU history. Guy will do whatever is asked of him. LSU HOF couldn’t have a better candidate!

He coached (with Brady) a helluva game against OK after a family tragedy. Can never dislike the man.

I like him. He seems like a great guy who loves LSU in a real way.

I dont Think he was a long term solution for this, but I hope he ends up in a good position with the school.

Me too! Great Tiger!

Three years as OC, and setting records all three years.

Not good enough for LSU fans...the same fans who expect a true freshman to put up the same #'s as a 5th year Sr. Heisman trophy winner #1 overall draft pick.

He'll always be a legend. I hope they keep him on to work with the Qb's. Hes done a tremendous job over past few years developing them.

Props to Steve. He’s going to be the next Sam Nader. He’ll have a job as long as he wants one.

I don't think that is the case, at all. He's just stepping aside from a position he didn't truly desire, but accepted out of loyalty to his alma mater

In 2018 Ensminger didn't want the burden and grind that comes with the OC job. O basically begged him to take it. He did out of loyalty to LSU

Going in to 2019 HE knew LSU's offense had to innovate beyond him to be championship level. Thus, he gladly accepted to new, young, coach into the booth even though he knew if the offense was great the new coach would get all of the credit. He didn't let personal ego get in the way of program success. There are very few long time coaches who would do that. LSU was rewarded for that humility.

In 2020 he stayed on to try to continue the 2019 success after Brady left. While not 2019 level, the offense was still solid enough to drag LSU to 5 wins and give them a fighting chance in two other games (MSU and Mizzou). And that was with 7 of 10 games being started by true freshman QBs with an ever diminishing roster of offensive playmakers.

The guy could have an ego. Hold up 2019 in demand that he remain as OC. Instead, he's willing to essentially be demoted but still be a part of the program...without any sense of anger whatsoever.

He essentially served 4 seasons as an interim OC at the request of the HC. Not because he desperately wanted the job or had a desire to move up the coaching ladder. He did it because he felt his school needed him and wanted to serve in whatever capacity he was asked.

Exactly how do you get this?

As said dude has set records every year, coached after family tragedy, stepped into the position when it wasn’t what he wanted.

How is he a charity case?

Dude had to go through the whole championship tour with them saying “this 30yr old wonder kid propelled the programs to new heights, but don’t forget about old Steve who stepped aside & let it happen. Couldn’t have done it without him!”

Dude cringed the few times I saw that happened. No one wants recognition for being passed over. Come the frick on
