Give me your Will Wade season grade
One question to ask is how many wins this season vs loses against teams that are projected to make the NCAAT
Most of our 14 wins are against teams that will not be in the final season NCAAT
14-7 is not a horrible season but not the record for a team looking to get the the final 8

I think (to date) this is the worst job he’s done at LSU (though there is still opportunity to improve). The biggest reason for that grade is he was FULLY AWARE his team was AWFUL on defense last year and he did absolutely nothing to fix it as they are almost as bad this year. When you are weak to terrible for 4 straight years on that side of the ball...with multiple different rosters ...it is not a personnel issue. It is an approach/philosophy issue that he apparently refuses to accept. And for whatever reason he has seemed almost reluctant to hold anyone accountable for poor decisions and terrible effort this year. It is hard to watch some guys (not all) half-arse it most of the game with no repercussions whatsoever.
Relative to the last 30 years of LSU basketball Wade has done a great job in his tenure. But that’s not a basis to absolve him from failing to reach the potential of this team. Before the season there were talks of this being Wade’s deepest team and maybe his most talented (though I always thought the 18-19 was more talented). If so, then they are woefully underachieving.

Well, I can't give him an A because we're not in 1st place in the conference and looking at a #1-#4 seed in the NCAA tournament.
I can't give him an F because we're not in last place in the conference and not looking to make a post season tournament.
As far as recruiting goes, A-
We've got talent.
As far as getting his team ready game after game - C.
Sometimes we look prepared and sometimes we don't.
Overall, I'd say a B. We're in 3rd place in the conference and look like a shoe-in for the NCAA tourney.
But... I think we could / should be playing better based on the talent / parts we have.....

C- Watford should never be used as a point. He is like a run away train most times he drives the lane. He is an athletic big not a tall guard. He should be utilized as athletic big with posts and cuts as well as screen moves. Not sure if Wade promised him point minutes but he sucks at it.
Smart is our best true PG and he should be bringing ball down most plays so Thomas can get open off screens. JS is best pure driver and shot creator. Gaines is looking damn good as guard as well.
CWW’s downfall is his stubbornness and lack of motivation. We died by that stupid press against many teams and we play down to competition many times.
Great recruiter.

We have the roster to compete with anyone, but yet have an average, middle of the pack record.
1) We don't have the roster to compete with anyone
2) We are 3rd in the SEC, which is objectively not middle of the pack in a 14 team conference.

Roster has no strong PG
Why does our best player never get respect? Smart is a hell of a pg and is our best player. He has been at the top of the league in assist to turnover ratio for 2 years. Hes got the best three point shooting percentage in the sec. Hes towards the top in assists too

We may have the best roster in the conference. Where do yall come from?

If we win our last two games and if bama takes care of arkansas tonight, like they should, then we will finish 2nd in the sec.
You cant grade a coach before the sec tournament and before the final two games of the regular season. I mean I'd say a b- if I had to grade him

Yes, C-, or D+.
We’ve played 14 SEC games. 11 of the 14 were decided by 12 points or more. Only three games were close.
When he gets them focused, we won 7 games by more than 12 points and 2 that were close. When we lost this’d four games, we were beaten by 12 or more 4 times. Only the Florida loss was close.
It’s obvious that when Wade has had the team ready, we are good; however, too many times he hasn’t had them ready just like last night. Losing by 12, 15 and 20+ points so many times is very bad.

C. Main issues are not knowing how to manage the weird roster he constructed & not reeling Cam Thomas in with Smart playing so well.

I think the roster is fine. Would you like a long shot blocker/rim protector inside? Sure. But I'm ok with the personnel.
The bigger issue for me is the awful defensive approach that has produced little to no improvement from last year's horrible defensive effort, coupled with seemingly no accountability for Thomas and Watford playing with absolutely ZERO effort on the defensive end. It is almost as if he is so thankful that Thomas came to LSU and Watford returned this season that he is hesitant to get on them for poor play. Perhaps out of fear that doing so will cause them to "check out" and start focusing completely on the next level. It reminds me a bit of the Simmons team where Jones appeared to be reluctant to say anything negative to his highly ranked recruits. The result is you had a lot of good individual pieces but not a good team. To a lesser extent that is what I think we have here
It hasn't been a bad year by any stretch of the imagination. But it has been somewhat disappointing that Wade doesn't seem to be able to get the most out of this group.

But free throw shooting
Dude, we are tops in the SEC in free throw shooting every year under Wade. Let me guess, you saw someone miss a free throw recently and formulated your opinion off that.........

B-. Happy with our role players and our offense. Disappointed in Watford's development and our rebounding at times
