Your type never tires of blaming anyone or everyone but the guy running the show. Brick is to blame, Canada is to blame. Les is to blame. The OL is to blame. The WRs are too blame. The cheerleaders are to blame. Everyone is to blame but the guy running the show.
You must be O's agent.
Good season but nothing new. Beat down by Alabama. Terrible offense. Defeats to less talented teams. Three loss season in the SEC which is a decline. A lot like the seasons which got the last coach fired.
But next year we are all set for a NC run. Same as in the seven years before.

There were 3 SEC teams in the final top ten. I'm not calling that weak. No one with ant sense would

It would appear so, yes.

Though I think it's fair to question whether or not we can be a legit CFP contender with the current offensive paradigm. We absolutely have to improve offensively, particularly in the red zone, if we want to take that next, big step.

Right.
The SEC is as strong as ever. Alabama didn't even bust on the scene again until 2008 and has been probably the best program ever.
The SEC is as tough aon the top half A's it seems ever been.
Hell two SEC teams made it to the finals last year. Hell, MSU is a winning program now.

It’s pathetic that there exists a 31 paged thread debating whether to give O credit for a Top 10 finish and a NY6 victory. Anonymous message boards breeds trolls though.

I think the concerns about the offense, in particular the red zone offense, have been well documented. Discipline is also a big concern.
Having said that, I do think the staff led by Eaux did a pretty good job overall this year.
One thing I’ve not seen discussed (although it’s possible I just missed it) is the job Eaux did in preparing the team mentally for the bowl game following a heartbreaking loss in the season finale. Lots of distractions with guys choosing to not play and injuries.
He deserves a lot of credit for keeping the team focused. We can’t take that for granted. Look at Georgia. They lost in heartbreaking fashion, had guys out and had every reason to come out blah too..and they did.
Eaux did not let that happen. In my opinion, he deserves a lot of credit for that and the bowl win was arguably his best coaching job all year bc of all those factors I mentioned.

hey idiot, we finished the best season we have had since 2011. We finished the season with a new years day bowl game win and a top 10 ranking (something we haven't done since 2011). We finished 10-3 against the toughest schedule in the country with 2 of those losses being toss ups that could have gone either way (with terrible ref decisions deciding one of them and going to 7 overtimes). There is a such thing as context. You need to learn about it, read up on it, see if you can understand what context is. The pollsters understand that and thus take context of losses and wins into consideration when ranking teams. Why is this so hard to understand for you?

What’s accomplished with anything on here? We’re discussing LSU football. Is that OK with you?

Final rankings aren’t an indicator of what seasons are better than others? I view finishing top 10 better than outside of the top 10 but by all means please show me a season where we finished outside of the top 10 that was better than finishing inside the top 10.
As was discussed ad nauseum many pages back, rankings are relative to the rest of CFB in a given year.
How many years would 3 losses get a team in the top 10?
As I also discussed earlier, 2012 was better than this year because going 10-2 (6-2) is better than going 9-3 (5-3). It just is, even if a bowl win skews the rankings after the season is already over.
quote:
Also maybe show me how many seasons in the last 15 where we finished better than our preseason rank.
So you’d agree 2017 was a pretty big disappointment then?
Preseason rankings aren’t gospel, postseason aren’t either for that matter, and are based on multiple factors, including faith in the coaching staff, or lack thereof.
O showed the voters they were way off on this team this year and that’s a good thing.
But it also doesn’t mean this was some wildly unexpected successful year. Anyone that follows us closer than a national pundit that follows dozens of teams in a cursory manner knew the talent was there to have a really good year.
We arguably underachieved but regardless things are definitely looking like next year could, and should, be special.
quote:
As for the wins vs p5 teams with less than 5 wins please tell me how that relates to the previous 15 seasons.
Not doing 15 years, but in 2015 we had 2 (MSU and Florida) 2014 we 2 (Wisconsin and Ole Miss) and in 2013 we had 2 (Auburn and Texas Am).
So, yeah, it’s pretty rare.

Actually 4th best & there will be 4 SEC teams in the top 10-12.
Is the good or bad?
Context, as usual is not your strong suit.

Smart 17 SEC Champ year 2

Meyer 06 SEC NC year 2
Miles 05 West Champ year 1
Richt 02 SEC Champ year 2
Saban 01 SEC Champ year 2
Tubs 00 West Champ year 2
This idea that there is some “transition period” is complete nonsense.
The opposite is actually true. If you don’t win big fast, history shows you don’t win big at all.

One of which we didn’t play. Went 1-1 against the other two.
There were also FIVE teams that fired their coaches.
Care to do the research and compare which is more rare for the SEC?

Well at least the philosophy isn't "attack the other guys strength" like the last HC, and we've learned that the forward pass does exist. We've upgraded from Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris to Joe Burrow.
With upgraded RBs I believe we will have the best offense in years.
