Let me ask you this? How do you feel when Beau steps up to the plate? Do you feel confident that he will get a hit? Lately I have had the feeling that he will somehow give LSU another out when he steps up. Call me an idiot or a negatiger or whatever else but I just expect more (maybe unrealistically) from a DH. Bash away.

It's all relative. He's one of the worst overall hitters in the lineup, but he's also better than anyone on the bench.

Nah he was only the 8th fastest player in the lineup last night. Not slow at all nope
yet he can out run YOU and 95% of the people on this board.
That was a VERY VERY shallow ball and had he did a swim move, he scored or even if he used his right hand.
My point is y'all think he is slow. Go challenge him to a foot race. Go ahead.

no it wasn't. It wasn't to the wall but by no means was it "very very shallow"

And 100% guaranteed I'd beat Braun Jordan in a foot race. It is what it is. Glad his out at the plate wasn't a killer.

He has had 7 hits, 4 RBIs, BB and HBP--4 times in the eight post season games.

What's wrong with that?????

I think the call to send him was 100% correct.

I couldn't disagree more. It was a shallow fly ball with a slow runner on base. He had a very high chance of getting thrown out and it killed momentum.

And that throw to home was not perfect. It was a little off line, the catcher had to reach for it, and then applied the tag.

I get they were trying to be aggressive, but how in the hell do you send him there?

late in the game and one run behind. anything less than an on target throw or any bobble at all and he is safe. If he had slid with his right hand leading as Duplantis did a few games ago he would have gotten around the tag. JMHO

Since you are more concerned with stats than what you have been watching the last month I will ask you this...were we behind or ahead in those games? I mean let's truly break down that 9-20 and find out if they happened when we were up 5 runs, down a run, early in games, late innings with game on the line. Based on what I've seen the last month I want Watson, Robertson, Smith, Freeman, Deichman, and Paps up if its late in the game with the game in doubt and I don't care what the SEASON stats show.
Not a single one of those guys can replace him in the lineup... they're already in the lineup!
And we know you don't care about the stats/FACTS. They don't fit your dumb arse narrative

Who disagrees that PM should have put in a pinch runner for Jordan in this situation? IMO this is a no brainer.
I disagree. Well, let's say I disagree with it being a no-brainer. Here's the facts/information I would have considered:

A) he was having a good game at the plate and is seeing the ball much better. Definitely not missing [horribly] everything low and away like he was in the SEC tourney.

B) at that point we're still down 3 runs in the 7th You know the order is going to turn over to win it in the 9th and your batting bench isn't deep so you have to consider is that pinch runner someone you want batting in the bottom of the 9th for contact (hit and run) or any other situational type hitting.

C) I'm sure they have much more detailed scouting but Mangum isn't known to have a particularly strong arm and Beau isn't THAT slow; he's just not particularly quick or speedy. I'd say about avg or slightly above avg. I'm sure they planned on the sac being deeper. That was pretty shallow. If I'm remembering correctly, Beau didn't really leave the bag, so the sac-n-tag was planned.

What do you think the chances were of the next batter getting a 2 out hit? 30%? 35? It sucks, but he had to go. Easier to live with him getting thrown out trying to tie it than left standing there when the next dude pops up.

And somebody please suggest a pinch runner candidate. I'm not being an a-hole, I really don't know who they could have subbed.

Could have ran brennan breaux out there. Then if that spot in the lineup comes up, use coomes, pretty easy

we all know why that hit and run worked so well last night, at least the people who know baseball.

most of his ab's aren't memorable and he rarely ever hits the ball hard. I did have an issue with him getting jammed with a fb down the middle and a runner on 3rd with 1 out last night...too bad there wasn't 2 outs he would have gotten a hit

It's a mute point now, but I was shocked he didn't pinch run him in the 7th. If you value that run and sac bunt to get to your 9 hole hitter-how do you not pinch run a non speedy DH hitter. Oh well
