Great awareness on scramble drill, puts his body in great position to shield defenders and catch (Josh Reed like), and he’s quick. I am a little concerned that he did most of his damage at Tech on slant routes because we haven’t run them since Jimbo was OC.

Do we finally sling it around? Giles in slot with Sullivan and Davis/Anderson on outside should be lethal. I say we just rotate a second line with Dillon, Marshall, and the other half of Davis/Anderson. It feels like the perfect time to lean on our depth at wr.

All sounds good on paper...

I hope it comes into fruition. It all rests on if Brenna is ready for the college game. The sample size he had this previous year wasn’t enough. He should have played a bit more but oh well.

Yeah, that’s a lot riding on Brennan or any qb, but if he just lets it fly like Mett was able to do with Juice and OBJ, our guys will learn to go fight for it. Sullivan, Davis, Anderson should have no problem winning jump balls.

Of course, Jarvis and Beckham could catch anything.

Let’s get real. The freaking ball has to come out within 3 seconds. Whatever receiver can get off and open in that time., that’s gonna tell the tale.
The freaking QB that can THROW TO A SPOT and then open needs to start IDGAF who it is.

This is the bottom line......... gotta have receivers who can get separation in 3 seconds whether going on a slant or downfield for 20- 30 yards.

In years past Etling hit a few long passes to Chark but they were not frequent enough to sustain drives

On paper, one would think there has got to be 1, maybe 2 future NFL receivers on this team. Hopefully we can get the ball them.

Yes, Giles will be our top playmaker next year. I also like our WR corps a lot, and I believe Brennan will develop into a really good QB. We also know our offensive line is pretty good, and it will get better with the JUCO guys on board. I think that if we have success in the passing game, the run game will follow. I think CEH and Trae Provens will have higher-than-expected production.

Should be a good year on offense. Reason for optimism.

I'm betting on our offense being able to sling the fricking rock this season. We have all the pieces to do it.

Yep. We gotta play to our strengths, too. Coaches fully realize this and this is what O visioned from the start. Pro-style is here.
Is Giles your leader to return punts and kicks?

have had that since 2008. Slinging it isn’t the problem. The TE group has been as shitty as any and we know who the coach was.
The QBs have been far good enough. 4*’s in fact. It’s been coaching. And schemes. I’m betting the practices are all about play action pass. The hate good except you got no flow or consistency getting off when the run doesn’t work.
Bubble screens ain’t gonna cut it against press coverage.
So then what? RPO, slants, creativity, flow...
BTW - Canada’s offense had all those features and would have worked great with our personnel group had it been fully implemented. That window dressing BS comment was complete BS. You could see it attacking at times and beating the weaknesses of other teams. We were shitty in the red zone. That’s on the QB getting it into small windows, throwing back shoulder and jump balls... and on play calling st the goaline.

Yeah I watched his highlights after he transferred here. Hit that guy on quick slants and he can burn a defense.

See those Air Raid teams are all about getting quick WRs and putting them in space.

That's why I wish LSU would go to a system like Oklahoma. Air Raid mixed with a power run game. We have speed for days at WR, but if they aren't drilled in catching constantly, then we'll continue to see the ridiculous drop problem we have every single year.

I hope we don't dissolve into a texas tech type of offense. Power football wins championships.

Just hope the offense line improves, if not Manning would not have been worth a shite with our line last season!
