The problem is you have to train a animal like that from a very early age. His trainers did a crappy job his 1st year of getting him used to the cage by feeding in the cage. Also they should make his stadium cage bigger

Ummmm......yeah. 6 pages, I thought someone would point this out, but I guess not. Tigers don't roar. Lions roar. Tigers purr. Tigers don't fricking roar. Mike the Tiger, any of them, has never roared. Maybe LSU piped in a Lion roaring but it sure as heck wasn't Mike. Look it up, tigers don't roar. I need Tiger fans to know about our damn mascot. You have to be the stupidest fricker to ever type a post deliberately with no research I have ever encountered on thiS site. They sure as frick do roar. It can be heard from 2 to 3 miles away. Look it up you dumbass

Link not working but go to you tube and search for Mike the tiger roars

The reason nobody mentioned it in six pages is because you are the only one stupid enough to think that

Here's an idea - a joint engineering/vet school project to invent a crate that is comfortable for Mike and alleviates his anxiety (or whatever the issue, but you should get the point), so that Mike can attend the games, which we all know he wants to do.

Did he tell you anything else?

From what I can see in the videos they are using a microphone to blast the noise through the stadium speakers.

It isn't really common for a lion to "roar" like a lion would. Lions are incredibly impressive when they roar.

If he NEVER got into the travel cage, then it would be no big deal that he won't get in it to go to the stadium. HOWEVER, They do get him into that travel cage to take him to the Vet School several times a year. No one has yet to explain how or why they are able to get him into the travel trailer when THEY need him to go to the Vet School, but cannot get him in the trailer when WE would like to see him in Tiger Stadium. He doesn't like fireworks? Change his schedule to get him off of the field before they use the fireworks. OR the administration has to decide fireworks or Mike.

So you are a current student. That means you are too young to know that all of the Mikes 1-5 used to get into the cage for all of the home games. In early years Mike even went on the road. As recent as Mike V, the vet staff used get him into the cage. I don't care what they did, it worked. Don't give me that, "it harms Mike stuff." Mike V lived about 4 years longer than the average cat in the wild. I'd say he was very well taken care of.

And which of those two do you think they will choose? Good lord you people are a joke. Get a fricking life. Be happy with the fact that we have a massive tiger in the habitat for all to see right across the street from the stadium.

It has already been explained that you can't "trick" a tiger into entering the cage with things like food. It has also been explained that Mike was stressed/irritated by the crowd noise/fireworks inside the stadium and thus refuses to move his 500lb (bigger than any other tiger we've ever had) self into the cage.

Things change. That is life. Get over it. Nothing you say or post on here is going to have any effect as to whether Mike goes into the stadium on game days.

Im not invested one way or the other really - although I always loved seeing and hearing Mike at games as a child - but your quote above doesnt pass the smell test dude. This Tiger is made to do all sorts of things that he doesnt "feel" like doing. I mean he has to be "forced" to get regular check ups, dental proceedures etc. Right?

Does he feel like having dental procedures done? Probably not. Are dental procedures directly beneficial to his well being? Absolutely. Thats the real deciding factor. His staff of veterinarians can make him do things when those things are strictly for his benefit. With the matter at hand, the staff CANNOT under any circumstances force Mike into a situation where there is no tangible benefit. Their hands are completely tied. The most they can do it try to coax him in to the best of their ability.

If we forced Mike to get into his cage and word caught fire, we would never own a live tiger again. Thats a promise.

Imagine Mike is your 2 year old child. As his parent, you want to take him to the pediatrician one day, and to Blue Bayou the next.

Both times he screams like he's being tortured and resists as hard as he can. Which time do you end up taking him anyway, and which time do you stay home?

What's the point of having one if he doesn't go to the games?

Send him to the BREC zoo in Baker.

Animals are not that complicated, they prefer one thing over another and they choose the thing that feels the best, until the cage and the stadium "feel better" than his home, forget it.
